Can Sorcerers Scribe Scrolls from a Wizard's Spellbook?

The subject says it all. Can a Sorcerer scribe scrolls from a Wizard's spellbook?

As an addendum, can a Sorcerer create his own spellbook but not be able to memorize spells from it?

PNHB. p.84:
SCRIBE SCROLL:
...You can create a scroll of any spell that you know.

A sorcerer does not need a spellbook if he knows the
spell to scribe a scroll. But he cannot scribe a scroll if
he does not know the spell (it must be part of his known
spells). Hope that helps.

Same for 'books I would say.

If, however, the sorcerer has a wizard (or cleric/bard/druid/whatever) helping him, he can scribe a scroll of a spell he does not know.

So I guess the question is, does a spellbook count as "a wizard's help"? My answer would be 'no', because the sorcerer wouldn't know the individual wizard's notation system etc (the same reason that wizards can't use each other's spellbooks).

If you're using the Magic of Faerun rule that lets you master another's spellbook, a sorcerer who bothered to master a spellbook might be able to scribe scrolls from it.

I'm fine with that answer (particularly the other person's quote), but for what its worth a read magic spell or Spellcraft check would allow the spell(s) to be deciphered.

I'm not sure it would allow it to be deciphered enough to make a scroll from though - a wizard who finds another wizard's spellbook can't use it to prepare spells that are not in his own (without optional rules as in MoF), so why should anyone be allowed to make a scroll from it?

However, that rule only serve for a wizard to prepare spells he already know from another wizard's spellbook. Yes, it's silly, especially given wizards don't know spells (except those mastered).

It just allow a wizard who has cast fireball before but who's lost his grimoire to prepare a fireball from somebody else's spellbook.

So, if a sorcerer were to master a wizard's spellbook, he would only be able to understand from it the spells he knows. And that's utterly useless.

As a house-rule, I do allow, however, wizards who've taken Arcane Preparation (see Tome & Blood or the FRCS) and Scribe Scroll to take latter another feat, entitled Prepare Slot, that allows them to devote one of their spell-per-day slot (no higher than the maximum spell level they can cast minus 1) to prepared spells from spellbook. The sorcerer will have to pay for each spell in the spellbook, however, as he won't receive free spell known like a wizard.

Scribing

Since you have to cast the spell during the scribing process, it wouldn't do a sorcerer any good since he'd need a scroll of the spell to create a scroll. Either that or a wizard friend who'd just scribe it himself anyway.

The spell must be castable for the scribing process.

1) Therefore the Sorcerer can not scribe a scroll from a Spell Book.

2) However, he could scribe a scroll using a wand or another scroll.

3) He could also scribe the scroll if a Wizard (who had the spell prepared) assisted him during the entire scribing process. The Sorcerer would pay the XP cost.

Um, no, actually. Either you're talking about the rule from the PHB or you haven't read Magic of Faerun closely. Check page 173 under "Mastering a Foreign Spellbook" - if the wizard does this they can use that spellbook as their own.
