Can this be right?

I've played a character using Karmic Strike (from OA, before the Combat Expertise prereq was added), and while it was certainly a nifty trick, it wasn't something I relied on. I generally had it activated every round, but never depended on it for extra attacks, but as a backup in case of emergencies.

I suppose I was in a bit of a different situation, since I felt free to soak damage (I had fast healing from the feral template), but most of my damage came through normal attacks. I'd recommend building your fighter for general effectiveness, and then putting in Karmic Strike. It's a useful ability, but is easily circumvented by a smart opponent, and isn't worth getting shafted in other areas.
