Can Undead use Potions?

But what if it were a brick of healing? :)

Ah-ha! But if it were a Brick of Healing, the skeleton couldn't tell the difference anyway. What? Is a skeleton gonna take the time out to cast detect magic, analyze the magical aura upon the Brick, and then take the time out to make a Use Magic Item skill check? ;)

Interesting, undead using healing potions. Why don't they just drink holy water, the effect would be the same with a cheaper cost.:)

Brick of healing??? I know you smack it on your face, and when you wake up you are completely healed.
Actually my group has done a similar thing. Only thing was that it was a common brick. That sure was a darn good bluff.:D

Undead could use unholy water or potions of inflict x wounds to heal themselves.

In one adventure (If Thoughts Could Kill, written by Bruce Cordell), a lich couldn't drink a potion. But he could touch it and gain the effect. I wonder... does that draw an AoO?

A while back, I had an idea about putting area effects into potion form (look at Book of Eldrich Might, where Unholy Blight is concentrated into a paste form).

Basicly, imagine a fireball that's unleashed when the potion is drank. It's centered on the drinker, and the drinker recieves no reflex save.

Brew Potion only works for spells that have a target of creature or Creatures, so no area effect spells. You could, however, make a Magic Missile potion that effects the imbiber.

What use magic device check? Where i come from, when given a brick of healing, you just eat it. of course, where i come from, they're also called fruitcakes...

Har! Attempt at stumpage! A brick is not a potion, and one built as a spelltrigger activated magic item would require a Use Magic Device skill check if the spell was not on the character's class spell list. :D

More to dispute this claim then defend my suggestion, Monte Cook expanded the potion list, to allow things that have area effects and item effects. Such as Oil of Grease, and oil of Magic Weapon.

Now, I know that these are relatively reasonable things, simply disputing. ;)

More to the point, however, there's a big ol' fat difference between a potion and an oil, so Monte didn't really expand the potion list, did he? ;)
