Can we replace human moderators with AI?

We live in the year 2025 and AI has improved a lot, but still forums still are quite the same as in the yer 2000.

I think this could be a good sign of modernisation of forums in general.

AI has the advantages of:

- Not needing sleep. So they can directly react if something happens.

- Being able to process 1000s of reports per hour.

- Having the ability to be trained directly by the community.

- Having no opinions of themselve and thus its easier to be objective.

You could even have like 5 different AI mods with different trainings and when people vote on their behaviour bad ones will be replaced by new AI models.

I think in the long run this will be cheaper than having humans waste their time.

We could even have maybe a function below AI mods where people could give tips to their favorite AI mod to help to finance them.

No thanks. I like the human touch that runs things like its still the yer 2000.
Well we could try both at the same time. And people could upvote and downvote mods when they see them. And the worst X mods get removed after Y months. Maybe thats humans maybe thats some AIs.

This way we could test what is better and how people in general like it.

No. Or, at least, I hope not.

There may be one or two mods that I don't necessarily agree with from time to time, but at least I understand where they are coming from. I feel like Ai mods would be both unfair and inscrutable.
Well no, over time when they learn what the community likes, it will be mathematically for sure be more fair.

"I feel" is just a fear about the unknown. Computers replaced humans in many places already. And will in more in the comming years.

And as I wrote above we can test it. Just kick the worst mod each month, adding another AI mod (learning from the failings of the ones before etc.) and I am sure after 1 year or so almost all mods would be AI.

Ascribing fear to people who don't agree with you is a bad look. Algorithms and models are good for lots of things. Moderating human interactions isn't one of them.

We could... or we could leave that to social media places that have the resources and need for it. I dont mean to speak for the mod team, I know there isnt many of them, perhaps they are overburdened? All I know is I come to EN World because it is a little old fashioned, and not in a hurry to be like everything else. Which is why the discourse is mostly pleasant and detailed, with excellent write ups by folks with the low down. YMMV.

The purpose of mods is not to be popular, but rather to help the owners/admins of a forum realize their vision for the forums, IMHO.
