Make him a vampire spawn though........ :]
That's a cool idea, but a troll can't become a standard MM vampire (spawn) by the RAW. (It's a Giant, not a (Monstrous) Humanoid.)

After it's dropped, walk up and chop off it's head
How do you do that, though? D&D doesn't normally have called shot rules.

I suppose you could get a vorpal weapon and hope for a natural 20...

So you are saying there is no rule by the RAW that would allow you to go over to a troll that is lying there helpless, regenerating, and swing a weapon (preferably something big, axe or sword) and sever it's head? Well, I guess that's yet another place where we bend the rules in the games we play. An axe can cut off any limb you want it to if the creature is for all intents and purposes just lying there on the floor.

Exactly. Even a CDG wouldn't work unless you use an attack that pierces its regeneration (e.g., acid, fire).

You can house-rule it, but that makes the creature in question weaker and you should therefore also re-evaluate its CR.

Got the idea from a half ogre/half troll character I'm playing. There is a halfling/minator mix, an ogre magi and a vampire leading us. Iguu (troll character) has been threatened with spawning by the vampire on several occasions. Him dont realize his importance to the vampire. (i.e. carrying the casket, daytime operations, getting the vampire invited into private homes.etc.)

Never knew if my Dm would let it fly since he is a halfbreed. This party gives him about all he can handle.

It retains any (Ex) SQs that improve its melee or ranged attacks, and no SAs.

Regeneration doesn't improve attacks, thus it's lost. Rend is an SA, thus it's also lost.

The funny thing is, Corpse Creature Troll and Bone Creature Troll still regenerate. But a Corpse Troll remain rotten, and a Bone Troll never regenerate it's flesh! :D
