Can't find the new FRCS

I 've been to 2 Borders, and 2 B&N and none of them had the 4E Realms campaign setting. One had that new FR adventure- no Player's Guides either. I asked employees at the last 2 stores if they even had got them in and sold out, and they said no. What the heck?

Yeesh. I want to see for myself what all the hubub is about.

If you don't mind PDFs, both the 4e FR campaign and player's guide are on sale at RPGNow.com! About 20 bucks each -- but if PDFs aren't you thing, you might not find them worth it and keep looking for the paper books.

Around here, I have more luck at B&N than at Borders for RPG stuff.

Nevertheless, my Borders had both the FRPG and AV, last I checked. I got 'em in a bundle from Amazon, though.

The FRPG is pretty much awesome. At least half is generically useful information - a well-made new class, two new races, generally useful gods, feats to support these, and a collection of nice rituals. The "Regions" section (which is about half the book, IIRC) is the only stuff that's not immediately transportable to any other setting without modification.

Nevertheless, I get the feeling from the FRPG that it could be used to support 4e in the pre-Spellplague Realms almost as easily as the post-Spellplague realms.

Every Barnes & Noble around here (Columbus Metro) has the 3 4E Core Books and the first two adventures (H1-H2) but not the newer books (including the FRCS). It's as if they haven't ordered the last 2 months of stuff. The Borders does have everything, but I don't get 20% off at Borders!

I guess I don't really understand why anyone would buy their D&D books off the shelf of a big-box bookstore. It's one thing if you want to support your FLGS- but Amazon or B&N.com both have prices around 1/3 below retail (and free shipping is pretty easy to get).

There are previews of both Forgotten Realms books on the Wizards website, so between those and what people have said about the books here on EN World, I felt like I had enough information to know whether I was interested in buying.

The above is what I was going to say. Barnes & Nobles and Books-A-Million are actually cheaper online than in the store, and if you are one of their club members (or, for BAM, military/retired military with an AAFES card;)) you can get some serious discounts from them. Even with 2-day shipping it's cheaper.

Thanx all for the advice. Def not a PDF purchaser, and 99% of the time make my purchases online from Amazon or whatnot.

In this particular case I wanted to actually check the book out in person. I tuned out on the FRCS threads here cos they get nearly as bad as the edition wars

I have a Borders Reward card, and every Thursday they offer a coupon that ranges anywhere from 20-40% off. A lot of time it works out to be the same discount as the online price, and I get my instant gratification!

After you spend $150 (either online or in store) you get a $5 coupon, and there's no cost to sign up.

The two Borders nearby nearly always have new D&D material, and they usually have the new releases the day of their release.
