Can't Take 10 with...

As a newish DM, am I getting this right?

These seem to be the skills you can't take 10 with:

Concentration (all uses seem to fall under threatened or distracted clauses)
Disguise (DM makes roll)
Escape Artist while grappling
Forgery (DM takes roll)
Ride (all listed checks in PhB count as threatened, distracted, or in combat)
Tumble (all listed checks in PhB count as threatened, distracted, or in combat)le (

That looks about right. Oh wait, add Knowledge and Spellcraft.

Why not? A wizard with a huge Spellcraft ought to be able to take ten to fill up his spellbook. Taking ten on knowledge skills outside combat represents being able to concentrate fully, to me. In any case, the skills' descriptions don't forbid taking ten.

I would allow a PC to declare that they are taking 10 on Disguise or Forgery checks.

Also, you could take 10 on the Tumble check to entertain a crowd (as Perform) and earn a few SP.

So long as you aren't rushed or threatened, you can take 10 on Knowledge and Spellcraft checks. So, trying to identify an onrushing monster that wants to eat you is different than carefully thinking about the construction of dwarvish bridges in Ulek County.

I can't actually find anything that explicitly forbids it... but remember, as DM, you have to keep that 10 secret from the player! :)

You can take ten on Disguise and Forgery. Just because the DM makes a roll, if a roll is required, doesn't mean you cannot take ten on it.

Someone else said Knowledge and Spellcraft. For most uses, you can take ten on those as well.
