Cast of NPCS

First Post
This thread spawned from another thread. As I was writing I started thinking about the wierd cast of NPCs my players currently have traveling with them. they commented last session how it seems they "collect NPCs". I"m curious as to whose currently traveling with your pcs party's.

Currently with my pcs

Clayton- the gnome engineering of the airship whom loves dwarven ale (though he can only drink a thimbles worth). He's sort of the apprentice to the party leader (in other words hesthe gun toting pack mule).

Dria- She is a bratty noblemen's daughter whom is constantly trying to fix her bodyguard Forge with the single priestess of Isis in the party.

Sardior- Currently turned to stone, she's a pretty elven girl with all the characteristics of a little girl except her deep husky dragon voice and her tendancy to Hock globs of white fire. Hes a male dragon and is becoming quite content with being a little girl at times.

Dustin Yaegar- The last couple of characters were npcs i didnt expect the party to take with them and keep. Dustin is an old hermit with a bad drinking problem (he is always pouring out little bottles of liquior despite the pcs always confiscting them). He was once a soldier then helped run a sort of underground railroad. the pcs invited him in hopes they might need his contacts from his previous years of service. So far all he does is drink and sleep.

Wow, a funny time in my campaign for this thread to start up!

We currently have Blackspine, a "psuedo-dragon" as well as Velea, a Siren I believe, or at least something closely resembling a Siren. They are on the road with us, we are looking for Velea's homeland and Blackspine is our "master", or at least that is what he appears to think.

Good thread idea!

Mordrigarrz - Human Chaosman from Sigils Hive Ward. He was never intended to be anything but an encounter but turned into a travelling PC for a bit whome the PC's LOVED. They liked his quirkiness, if someone asked him his name, he replied, "I'm Mordrigarrz, but today people call me Leonard"...he changed his name almost every day. He would also always challenge the PC's into a fight for no other reason than because he likes to fight. And once, a PC & him were sneaking down an ally when the PC told him to watch his back. Mordrigarrz replied with "Ok, if I'm struck from behind I will yell out to you that I'm being attacked, and if I see someone hit you from behind I will also yell out to you that you are being attacked." The PC just laughed and said, "Ok, that'll work Mordy". I planned on killing this guy off just to get him out of the party but when he was unconcious the party bent over backwards to save him, more than they try to save each other. Then they talked about how they were so glad he didn't die. I had no idea they liked him that much, so I kept him around as a reocurring NPC.

Herfik the Silent - Githzerai Rogue - He was a quiet guy that used his ring of invisibility everytime a fight broke out and he would just hide out of harms way. He was only a guide for the party & wasn't paid to fight but this ticked the party off every time he did that. No matter how much a PC would yell at Herfik, he would still repeat his same tactics during each fight. It also annoyed the sorceress that he hardly talked. He replied to her once that, "They don't call me "the Silent" because I'm loud & talkative". After awhile he was captured by an Erinyes and the party ran into him days later while Herfik was working as a slave in the pits. He begged the party to free him but they were dead set with letting him have what he deserves. I guess being a quiet coward deserves torment for eternity

A nameless artifact ring currently wearing/being worn by Inva, the party's tiefling rogue. The ring takes the shape of a serpent biting its own tail (but which detaches and draws blood the first time it takes a new owner). They've slowly come to realize that it's very much evil, likely originating in the Abyss, and has some link to the Varrangoins/Abyssal Bats.

Shimmerscales - the familiar to Phaedra, a half lupinal/half arcanaloth sorceress, and probably one of the things keeping her alignment balanced somewhere around true neutral and not nosediving towards evil.

Grace - the familiar to Velkyn, the fey-touched, half drow wizard. She takes the form of a small, six inch tall drow woman with silvery hair and fairy/fey wings, always dressed in a perfectly white suit. What she is exactly is currently an open question to anyone but Velk.

Outside of the familiars, or similar things, there aren't any longterm companion NPCs/DMPCS in this campaign because right now I'm up to 7 players and can't juggle any more personalities unless I risk minimizing some PCs.

None. They just get in the way. Now, if we spent considerable time onboard an airship, having some NPCs around us would make sense.

We prefer to talk to NPCs in town :)
