Caster level question

Ok, figuring a character's caster level is usually pretty simple, but I've run across a special case I'm not sure about. It's a Paladin 8/Templar 3. I think that the paladin level is halved for caster level (though I can't find where it says that).

Is the templar also halved? The logic behind that: Ranger and Paladin, the "little bit of spells" classes, are halved. Templar (and a great many other PrC) is also in the "little bit" catagory.

pretty sure paladin caster levels are half of the paladin levels, ie... 10th level paladin casts as a 5th level caster. Not sure about this one, no books around to check.

templar caster levels are the templar's levels, ie... 5th level templar casts as a 5th level caster.

Paladin and Ranger caster level = 1/2 class level

Templer caster level = class level


I think every other casting class has a caster level that is equal to their class level. But I could be wrong...

Templar has a separate spell list and spell progression like many other Prestige Classes. Therefore caster level for templar spells is templar class level.
