casting the first stone

If I use my sling to hurl stones, I can use my iterative attacks, and rapid shot etc. to hurl several stones per round; even though I have to pull each stone out of my beltpouch.

But if I would rather just throw the rocks, then I have to take a MEA to draw out each one and so can only throw one per round.

When coming out of the pouch, how does the rock know if I'm going to put it into my sling or not?

Perhaps you can "ready" certain types of missle weapon
ammo (dedicated containers and such). If this is so,
then perhaps other thrown items (of like nature - not,
say, tanglefoot bags) may be accessed similarly.
Worst case, use something like the FRCS bandoleer
(which eats a free action but is better than "retrieve
an item").

A sling bullet is pretty small. I could see someone drawing a whole handful of them out of the pouch, and then dropping them into the cup of the sling one at a time. Even with Rapid Shot, he won't need to hold more than 5 bullets at any time.
