First Post
To date, Troll Lord Games has produce much material of which we are proud but CastleZagyg by Gary Gygax is, without a doubt, the one dungeon/setting/super adventure we are proudest and happiest to bring the gaming community.

Castle Zagyg is the premiere adventure experience and it is penned by the master himself. Produced with the Castles and Crusades rules in mind, it is, none-the-less accessable to players of all incarnations of the Game and others besides.

To follow the ongoing discussions concerning Castle Zagygplease visit Dragonsfoot.org at the following thread ( http://dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5000&sid=a943eea24322f2ccc4a279311f797960 ) and speak with Gary himself concerning the upcoming release.

I think it's hard to understate the importance of the Greyhawk Castle and Dungeons to D&D. The D&D and AD&D rulebooks are the theory, the Castle is the practice -- the actual testing ground, the crucible where the game began and where its original principles and processes are exemplified.

That said, the first book won't have the Castle in it! But it'll have a lot of Gary Gygax setting and adventure material.

As I was joking to Gary, I'm standing by with a resurrect scroll for the next few years if something untoward happens to him. I've waited this long, I'm GONNA see that castle! :)

I'm looking forward to the releases myself. Does the first one have a solid date yet?

Castle Zagyg will be released by Gen Con Indy. We may, if we are lucky and work very diligently, have pre-release copies at Mil Gamefest. The latter would be special edition only.

Now I have to figure out where Steve keeps moving things on our web site so I can have a sig again.

I just finished reading the 322 page manuscript for book one (and that is without appendices). Yes, this will be a huge complex. The first book will be concerned with the environs of Castle Zagyg and set the players up for a grand adventure. However, having read it, it is,in and of itself, such a complete and comprehensive setting and adventure that it should keep anyone busy for a very long time.

It is looking like it will be 250 + pages.

Then, each volume to follow will cover the Castleitself. Going ever deeperand into evermore dangerous territory.

More updates later.

And still the question remains: How easy is it for those of us that use ONLY the D20 system to use this module. Will we have to buy the C&C guide to play this? CAn I see the statblocks for one of these monsters? Is there going to be a radical change?

I am waiting to see some sort of blurb on this so I can make a decision or else the World's Largest Dungeon by AEG is gonna get my $$$.

A stat block.... A stat block.... let me confer with my team mates at Three Lazy Guys (TLG, get it :p ) . I think I will even post a portion for public view in the next 24 hours. I just talked to Gary and he said it was OK.

I just nee to confer before I put a stat block up, but imagine converting G1.

I have done a few conversions myself and yes it was not shall we say the easiest thing to do (converted Night Below all books and G1-3 as well as taking my players though a semi-converted Greyhawk Ruins) but once you get the hang of it, it works well. Playbalancing is an issue that is left up best to the GM, but I digress.

Please post a stat block when you can.

I do think providing some sort of conversion notes to 3.5e would be a plus for sales. Some gamers will buy it regardless, some won't.

Overall, I really have to express my appreciation for TLG's willingness to take a risk and come out with a product that (at least some) fans dearly want.

I say risk because my (very uninformed in RPG marketing) opinion tells me adventures don't sell well in general, and a multi-volume adventure not for the d20 system may be a tougher sell yet. Also, CG is being released for the as-of-yet unreleased C&C game system. Hopefully, TLG will be able to overcome these obsticles.

Sorry to sound negative; I'm actually very excited about this. I just hope it goes well for the author and the publisher.

What can I say. we are negotiating around the a d20 conversion that will just be a list of stats and such - an add on so to speak.

We have a great dealof faith in the Castles and Crusades game. Well, I should hope we do :p ;)
