You had me excited until I saw the name "Paul W.S. Anderson" in the credits.

They should gotten Ryuhei Kitamura to do it. Okay, I say that about almost every movie, but besides being a very good director of action movies, he apparently actually worked on a Konami video game, directing some of the cut scenes for a MGS game.

Here is a link to Paul W.S. Anderson on IMDB.com. He's directed Mortal Kombat, Alien Vs. Predator, and Event Horizon

Well, I've seen Mortal Combat and Resident Evil. Weren't super great, but IMO, weren't that bad either [well, RE2, I thought was horrible]. Haven't seen any of the others.

Not really sure what to expect now though...

Not sure if it would play out well on the big screen. Great video game series, but I can't picture it on the big screen.
Think Van Helsing with fewer cast members and more melee battles. The action of the VH movie felt about right to make jokes that it was the Castlevania movie.

MK 1 was a Fine movie and grand for a Video game adapt. MK2 was wretched because for some reason the felt they absolutely had to show the faces of Shao Khan & Motaro's actors. When they focused on the joke fatalities [animalities] as a plot point, the movie was good as dead.
