Catfolk or Goatfolk - which would make a better "charger"

First Post
I'm considering running a "charging" based Fighter, emphasis on feats that aid charging (on foot) and was wondering whether Catfolk or Goatfolk make better chargers?

The Catfolk gain a +4 to Dex and a 40ft base move for +1 LA, while the Goatfolk gain +4 Str, +2 Con and a natural headbutt for 3 racial HD and a +1 LA.

Not many optional races are allowed in the campaign, so if possible can we stick to the merits of these two instead of considering other races, thanks. ;)

I kind of like the Goatfolk, but it may just be the imagery talking. If you're going to be a melee combatant (as opposed, you know, to a missile charger), it seems like the +4 Str/+2 Con is better. Plus, Goatfolk's 3 racial HD are Monstrous Humanoid, which is a better deal than Humanoid. (If you go Barbarian for a level, that's another 10' of movement right there.)

Also, if you don't make CHA your dump stat, you can take Leadership, get a goatfolk cohort, and start getting that sweet, sweet Pack Fevor (ex) bonus. Some might say that has the whiff of queso about it, but you're paying the LA, might as well get the abilities.

Full Disclosure: I've never read catfolk. What book are they in?

Given that there is a racial feat for catfolk that allows them a full attack at the end of a charge, the choice seems pretty clear to me. :)

Oh really? I've only read them in Miniatures Handbook, I assume the feat is in Races of the Wild?

Just from the point of view of my own personal take on which race is more interesting...

take Goatfolk, but simply eliminate the racial HD. I don't see any reason they couldn't function sans those HD. Additionally, after eliminating those HD, the Goatfolk are left with a Headbutt (d6), Pack bonuses which probably won't factor in often, natural armor, and proficiency in Great Axe. If you drop the Natural Armor, then I would place them at +0 LA... which would make them rather perfect for PCs.

Catfolk on the other hand, just seem like an attempt to placate the 'furry crowd'... and I cannot get into them. Better to look at Proud from Scarred Lands material, or possible the race from Arcana Evolved.

Just for the record, Goatfolk (Ibixians) are from MM III, and Catfolk are from Miniatures Handbook (reprinted and updated in RotW)...

Race: Catfolk, Origin: Races of the Wild.
Feat: Catfolk Pounce, Origin: Race of the Wild.

Catfolk Paladin with Charging Smite variant and a bunch of charging feats and Catfolk Pounce = lotsa damage...
