CB's City of the Spider Queen v3.5

Alex, replying to Prixo, says, "My lack of need to sleep is a benefit of magic...as is my ability to see in the dark. The caverns down here are notoriously dangerous; I thought it mere practical consideration to bear items that would relegate my race's natural disadvantage to a certain degree."

Please make a list of the mundane PHB items you would like your character to buy and put it here. Please also be sure to update your Rogues Gallery thread with the changes to your equipment list. If there's anything magical you want to buy from the DMG, go ahead and buy it and add it to the Rogues Gallery. Szith Morcane is large enough that I don't have a quibble with you doing that. Later today I will post a list of acceptable equipment culled from the FRCS, Magic of Faerun, Underdark, and the CotSQ module in our OOC thread. If you see something from there that gets your attention but you don't own the sourcebook, please send an e-mail to me. In short, equipment buying should not take up too much of our time given present circumstances. Let's get it done so we can get to adventuring.

As the newly formed companions wend their way through the byways of the bazaar, Alex looks at K'yorl with no small amount of surprise after her declaration. Rightful matron of a Maerimydra House, is she? Must be feisty--look how young and taut her curves are...she can't have reached the age of blood yet. Looking away from K'yorl, Alex privately smiles. Or mayhap she's naught but a young pup, puffing herself up to impress.

As they make their way down to the bazaar, a small bat glides silently to land on Lyssa's arm. It crawls down to hang upside down from her shield. Lyssa scratches the bat affectionately under the chin and continues with the others. "What do we need besides food and water?"
Seeing the other bat reminded her of Eek tucked away in her cloak. Checking she finds the small mammal still asleep.

Prixo replies to Alex "Two hours? Not bad for a human. Is this some magic, or are you an advanced form of your species, becoming more elflike?"

"I will come, I want to hear more of this" Prixo says to Zarra. "I believe that some introductions are in order, everyone."
"My guess is it is magic. Perhaps a ring similar to mine?"

"Hael Boudin. Been scouting and putting spellcasters and their summoned beasties to the axe for various employers for decades. My flying beast and I get around."
"I hope that I do not end up on the business end of your axe nor anything that I might summon."

"I prefer to be called Zarra, if you please." As she continues walking she asks, "Now, does everyone have rope? It is one of the most useful tools you can own. We will need plenty."
Ardyth turns to Zarra.

"I am Ardyth and I have a number of magical items that should be of benefit in a variety of circumstances. One of these is a magical rope."

Blite looks down to his companions. "You can call me Blite. No fancy titles or anything."

"Rope might be useful I guess. I could get some. Don't know that they make any strong enough to hold my weight though."

Ardyth nods at Blite as if sizing him up.

"I believe you will find that my magic rope will hold you just fine."

"Yes, I believe that that will be very handy."

Blite goes on quite a shopping spree, buying a winter blanket, whetstone, grappling hook, another waterskin, 5 days more trail rations, a belt pouch, a sack and 2 vials of anti-toxin. (106gp, 1sp, 2cp in total and a weight of 18lbs)

"Good choice, Alex." Prixo finds himself starting to like the human inspite of himself. It's refreshing that he knows his race is inferior and doesn't try to deny it. Of course, the human would have been well trained by his Mistress to recognize that.

Prixo is surprised by K'yorl's declaration, but doesn't comment.

While waiting for Zarra to speak, Prixo browses the food items in the bazaar. He looks at dried sausages, small bags of nuts, and other long-lasting items of a generally small cross-sectional diameter.

While walking in the bazaar, Zarra asks Alex rather quietly "Do you know that Tierak Morcane fell to disrepute and a low station within her House back in Maerimydra and hasn't been seen in years? Well it makes me think why would they chose her to represent the council? Are you sure that she has told you nothing else?"

"So your a summoner then." Hael gives Ardyth a once over appraising glance and then nods. "Noted. You got magic to see in the dark as well?"

The only thing Hael purchases are rations. He feels ready to go with his current gear and trusts in his skills to deal with whatever they come upon.
