Incidentally, [MENTION=12430]gribble[/MENTION], how was your trip to the States?

Really great. A lot of that was probably the company, but also enjoyed the trip. I've been to the states quite a few times before, but normally relatively big cities (DC, New York, Miami, Indianapolis, LA, Vegas, Seattle, Portland). This was the first time I've really road tripped around a lot of the smaller towns, national parks and places like that. It really is a different country when you make it to places like that.

It's a shame I didn't get a chance to look any of you up, but it really was go, go, go the whole time. Exhausting, but thoroughly enjoyable.

The surprise highlight was St. Louis. Heard a lot of bad things about the place, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent most of the time at a Burlesque festival and related events, and had some local hosts who showed us around which definitely helped, but the place had a really cool and alternative vibe which we liked a lot.

One last clarification... Displays. There isn't much in the MSRD about psionic displays. There is a feat that allows a manifester to eliminate a single display, but that's about all I found. The regular D20 SRD has a lot more about displays (like examples), including the ability to use Concentration to avoid giving off displays (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicPowersOverview.htm#display) Wondering if any of that is in the Modern Book. Not a big deal if it isn't.

I checked the hardcover index for displays, psionics, and manifestation, and didn't see the "Concentration DC 15 + power level" check to avoid manifesting a single display. The d20 SRD goes into, apparently, much more detail than does the Modern hardcover. I additionally checked the Psionic Powers section, as well as the material for both the Telepath and the Battle Mind. Nowhere in any of that is there a description of eliminating a display.

That said, the hardcover does list a Concentration DC 15 + power level check for other things, so I don't have a problem permitting a similar check to avoid a display. If you want to have Cyril use Concentration in this way, fine by me.

Cool. Given Cyril's lack of skill in Concentration and his average Wisdom, I wouldn't imagine he'd succeed at it very often, but it's nice to have on the table. Do you recall if the book goes into any detail about what Displays are? The D20 SRD gives an example of what each one does, I wasn't sure if they were the same in Modern or not.

Concentration is based on Constitution. Not that Cyril's Con is any better than his Wis. Both are a 10. Or is Wisdom somehow relied on for psionic manifestation in other ways?

RE: whether the hardcover has detail on what displays are, not really. I don't have the book in front of me so I'll have to confirm when I get home, but from comparing the d20 SRD to the hardcover last night, the info on displays is waaaaay more in-depth in the d20 SRD than it is in the book. I think the book just had a very basic list, in the preface to the Psionic Powers section, that stated what the names of the different displays are. The book didn't seem to offer much description for how the displays manifest. The SRD had a lot more info on that front. Personally, I'd roll with whatever the SRD has in this area. I didn't see anything untoward in the SRD and the detail there was helpful, more so than the hardcover.

comparing the d20 SRD to the hardcover last night, the info on displays is waaaaay more in-depth in the d20 SRD than it is in the book.

From memory, the additional psionic stuff was covered in one of the supplements - D20 Future, or possibly Urban Arcana - not the core book.

Unfortunately I don't have access to my books at the moment (still in storage), otherwise I'd check.
