CB's Grim Frequencies AP OOC -- COMPLETE

Yeah, CB is correct. Retirement or Guard service. States may issue DLs identifying veterans, however. Louisiana just started doing it and I got it added to my license. It's easier than carrying around your DD214 everywhere.

ETA: Your buddy probably just kept his old one, although I think it is probably supposed to have been turned in, especially if it is one of the new Common Access Cards.

Hey, Forged Fury, I'm home from my conference and scoped out the hardcover, and lo and behold, missive has a visual manifestation! If you'll give me a link for your preferred d20 Modern SRD resource, I'll bookmark it so that from here on out we're using the same document. The link I provided in the IC yesterday was to the d20 SRD, so let's make sure we roll with your preference (because, frankly, I don't really have one here).

Also, let's discuss whether a display occurs when a power is manifested but the target succeeds on their saving throw. What do you think, does the display still occur? After a quick skim, I can't see anything in the hardcover that leads me to believe the display wouldn't occur. What I'm thinking is that Cyril attempts to manifest the power >> the power manifests >> display occurs >> subject makes and succeeds at its saving throw.

Think there's either language in the text or a viable reason why no display would occur?

I think the display happens regardless of the save, putting aside the house ruled Concentration check to hide the display. Now whether anyone understands what the display is is another issue entirely...

I usually just use EnWorld's D20 Modern SRD.

All, now through October 16, I have jury prep and will need to knuckle down. The site's my reprieve from stress, so I'll be around some, but please consider us on hiatus through the 16th. Post at will in the IC if you like. The encounter with the police is very nearly at a conclusion.

Incidentally, all, Morrus has implemented a change in the site. This morning he granted thread-starters in the Playing the Game forum the ability to edit and delete all posts in said thread. This means I could edit or delete any of your posts in the Grim Frequencies IC. This is not an ability I plan to exercise. The only time I can envision using it would be to clean up the RG, removing inactive players--and the Character Optimization forum has no such moderation ability for thread-starters. Also, no clue if the ability to moderate is temporary or permanent. Morrus said he'll be making an announcement. Probably in Meta?

Just an FYI.

This is actually really good news. It'll help keep threads trimmed, and streamline necessary edits that were until now relatively painstaking to make.

It requires trust of course, but there's a necessity of mutual trust in any gaming group. If you don't trust the GM (or if the GM hasn't earned your trust) then you probably shouldn't be playing with him/her. :)

Cool!

Stay sane, CB. Don't let the courts steal you from us!

Yeah, if you run into any challenges in the court-room, just think: What Would Cyril Do? I'll be keeping tabs on Indianapolis newspapers to see if any local prosecutors put together cockamamie cases.

That pretty much describes how Monday went for me at an out-of-county hearing, actually. Wish I could say more; the tale is alternately hilarious, alarming, and criminal.
