CB's Grim Frequencies IC -- COMPLETE

Seeing JR tussling with Buzz Cut, T-dawg broke into a loping stride. His footfalls created a slight vibration in the toys on the shelves, almost like a charging T-Rex. As he charged Buzz Cut from behind, T-dawg swung a large meaty fist in a wide arc, connecting with Buzz Cut's head with an earsplitting crunch for 6 points of non-lethal damage.

After pistol whipping J.R. on the ear a moment earlier, Buzz Cut flicked the gun back into position in his right hand and raised it. Both J.R. and T-dawg see Buzz Cut take aim at J.R.. J.R. was the first to react, and made an attack of opportunity when he saw Buzz Cut start aiming. J.R. hits AC 13. His punch swung wide and missed Buzz Cut.[sblock= Attack of Opportunity]J.R. has Combat Marital Arts, so his unarmed attack is considered armed. Because of that, J.R. can make an AoO. I checked T-dawg's sheet, and saw that T-dawg has Brawl. Brawl, however, does not make T-dawg's unarmed attack count as "armed," so Buzz Cut does not incur an AoO from T-dawg. I do not see anything on T-dawg's character sheet that would grant him an AoO using his fists. Please let me know ASAP if I've overlooked something.[/sblock]

Buzz Cut fired a round at J.R., hitting AC 22. The bullet ripped through J.R.'s left shoulder, shredding a hole in J.R.'s clothing, and dealing 6 points of damage. Immediately, a red flower blossomed on J.R.'s shoulder as blood started to flow freely from the wound. Buzz Cut's upper lip curled into a how-do-you-like-me-now-bitch smirk. Backing ten feet to the east away from J.R., Buzz Cut turned heel and strode down Aisle 3, out of sight. He didn't particularly seem to be in a hurry.

Several people in the crowd by the front door, however, screamed in terror when the gunshot echoed inside the store, and the panicked crowd went into overdrive, pushing harder against the fat Christian woman holding the large box just inside the entrance door. The fat woman went down and disappeared under the weight of the crowd. With the woman out of the way, the bottlenecked crowd burst through the front entrance and started stampeding out of the store. The last few stragglers nearer the aisles hurried to the door and joined the crowd, leaving only J.R., T-dawg, Cyril, and Buzz Cut inside the store.

Cyril cursed his luck. What did I ever do to deserve this? I mean, other than the obvious? Whipping his head back and forth, the former lawyer searched for some way out of the situation. The crowds had effectively blocked the obvious exits (for at least another round), and the loss prevention specialist was clearly of no help. Certainly isn't helping to prevent my loss, now is he?

Hoping he might be able to hide himself in the crowd long enough for Buzz Cut to lose him, Cyril dashed to the very back of the crowd, where he started crying and whined, "Oh! My! God! He's coming. Push harder!" Edging around the outside of the crowd, Cyril ducked down as if he had fallen then duck walked until he was out of the line of sight of Aisle 4. Popping up, he dashed to the far cash register and ducked down on the opposite side of it. He desperately looked around, where was a large box when you needed one?[sblock=Hiding Places]The woman's and the men's restrooms are fifteen feet away from the far cash register. They look like they might be small, one-stall restrooms of the sort found in a gas station. Both of them have a door that is presently closed. Perhaps the door locks from the inside? There is another room a bit further to the north, next to the men's room, but it's door is similarly closed. Across from that room is a small goods counter where trading cards and other expensive small good are kept inside a locked glass case. The counter is L-shaped.[/sblock]

END OF COMBAT ROUND 4. I HAVE ACTIONS FROM KIRAYA, J.R., AND T-DAWG FOR ROUND 5, BUT YOU MAY RE-STATE YOUR DECLARED ACTION IF YOU LIKE.

Cyril nearly let out a yelp when he heard the gunshot. Fortunately, his sense of self-preservation barely kept him from alerting Buzz Cut to his presence. F^&* Marks and f^&* the FCC! They better have a line item for guns and armor for us.

The former lawyer popped his head over the counter to check on the situation. He spared a brief thought for T-Dawg, JR, and Feral. He wasn't sure if he really cared about them or just their ability to serve as additional targets for Buzz Cut's gun sights. Either way, the longer they stayed on their feet, the longer he might survive.

Seeing the crowd start to thin out, Cyril considered fleeing in that direction but double checked his other options.

OOC: Alright, so if Cyril definitely has a shot at getting out the front door, that's where he's going. If not, he's going to hide in the woman's restroom, preferably locking himself inside the room.

OOC: If you would like, gribble, I will hold in reserve T-dawg's declared action to charge and will also keep his attack and critical rolls for next round. He can't attack this round because he double moved, but I will permit the charge attack to go next round on T-dawg's turn, if you like.
OOC: The intent was to charge *instead* of a double move this round - from memory charge allows a double move then an attack? If for whatever reason T-dawg couldn't do that, happy to hold and perform next round.

J.R. takes the blow a little surprised.

"Takes a real JAGOFF to shoot an unarmed man!"

At this point he knows he's beaten, and attempts to drag himself away. Headed where ever Buzz Cut isn't. If prone, he crawls, if he can get to his feet he'll move as fast as his legs will carry him.

OOC: J.R. is not prone. He has 10 hp when healthy, correct? He suffered -6 hp from the gunshot wound, and is still upright (for the moment). He therefore has full movement available to him. If someone knows of a rule that states otherwise, please pipe up. I admit, this whole firearms thing makes me edgy. It's new territory, at least in a game.

COMBAT ROUND 5

Initiative:
Feral 23
Otter 18
J.R. 15
T-dawg 10
Buzz Cut 9
Cyril 8

Feral took off at a run out of the store, leaping off the edge of the loading dock, and landing hard but continuing on a dead sprint. He rounded the store's outside northwestern corner and shot straight down the outer western edge of the building. He had the prize, so to speak, and didn't want to risk it getting damaged or lost in a scuffle. There weren't any cars on this side of the building, but already he could see that the entrance onto Meridian Street was clogged with honking cars, and that vehicles were backed up into the parking area as people tried to leave en masse. No sign of the white van, but then when Feral last left it, the van was in the main parking lot out front.[sblock=Feral]Run x 3. He makes it 35' down the outside western edge of the store by the end of his turn.[/sblock]

Otter scanned the lot for signs of cops, trouble, or any of her newfound colleagues. She saw no one from the group, just crazed shoppers in a marked hurry to leave. Marks focused on weaving through the traffic clogging the lot and on not hitting pedestrians. His cell phone laid in the driver's side console cup holder.[sblock=Otter]It will take all of this round and all of next round for the van to make it to the loading docks at the rear of the store. If she stays the course she's presently on, Otter will get a single move action in Round 7. Unless either she or Marks spots Feral first?[/sblock]

The blow surprised J.R., who barked, "Takes a real JAGOFF to shoot an unarmed man!" At this point J.R. knew he was beaten, and attempted to drag himself away. Headed where ever Buzz Cut wasn't. Wincing and still bleeding, J.R. made his way over to the cash registers and slumped down next to Cyril, behind the farthest register. He left a trail of smudged blood all the way from Aisle 5 to the cash register.

At this point, all the customers have pushed their way out through both the entrance and the exit doors. The manager is nowhere in sight; in fact, none of you have seen anyone even close to resembling management this entire time. Red Shirt hasn't poked his head out of his sentry room, either. The store is become quieter with every passing moment.

PAUSING MID-ROUND FOR AN ACTION FROM T-DAWG. [MENTION=12430]gribble[/MENTION]. [MENTION=95059]Forged Fury[/MENTION], if you like, you can re-state Cyril's action for Round 5, given that J.R. slumped down beside Cyril.

OOC: T-dawg spotted a strange tattoo on Buzz Cut's neck and recognized it as a tattoo of a compass rose. The insignia of Russian mafia. Same for Cyril, he spotted and recognized the tattoo, too.

Feral slows down to a trot and crouches by the corner of the building, watching the cars leave and keeping an eye out for the group's van. In the meantime, he takes a look at the wound on his hand to see if it need attention.
