CB's Grim Frequencies IC -- COMPLETE

"Yeah, 'thrall' is lame. Too general. Still a little creepy hearing you call it acidpus, but whatever..."

She shakes her head at his dismissal of the bodies. "You're wrong though...the acid is good, yeah, but the body's important. I mean, what's weirder right? Acid that eats anything, or a creature that it can't eat? The glands, the sacs... Ah...man...yeah."

Otter whirled around and shouted, "Marks! I need...more stuff! Fricking...right now. Mousetraps. The ones that don't kill the mice. Uh, microscope. Multimeter. Ugh! I don't have to give you a list! We're cool right? With the cops and everything? I need to borrow the car."

"Maybe you need to," Otter retorts irritably.

She dropped down at the kitchen table and unloaded her armful of snacks, forgetting entirely that she was going to go back to the basement, and then the car and some hardware store.

"So. Professor X. You mentioned these things can possess people. How's that work?"

T-dawg simply serves up another omelet, plopping it down on the table in front of Otter without a word, and continues listening to the conversation.

Cyril had been silent through the various exchanges. He still couldn't believe that the psychic stuff was true. As the talk turned to their assailant, re re-centered himself. "The first thrall was involved with a druggie too? That seems too coincidental. Either the thralls are intelligent and are targeting people who often go missing that no one cares about... or maybe they can somehow transfer themselves through injection? Like thrall larva?"

The thought sent a shiver up the man's back.

Bukowski focused on Otter. "I don't know the biological mechanism for how the possession occurs, only that the venom is suspected. It's as if the thrall's venom is intelligent somehow, though there's no compound or combination of compounds I've been able to isolate in the venom that supports that conclusion. It is, I'm afraid, a question to which the answer is very much lacking. Perhaps you would like to help me investigate further? You mentioned the boyfriend. Is he also a drug user? If you could find him, we might conduct field tests." Bukowski didn't offer what those field tests might entail.

Feral thought back to his encounter earlier in the morning as he peeked in on Marks, calling back , "I might be able to track him down. Just don't ask me for any specifics on how."

OOC: I forgot Feral volunteered to go check on Marks. :P
