D&D 5E CB's Stonefast IC -- COMPLETE

The dark-skinned elf's smirk faded when it became clear that Colden wasn't going to immediately topple. The elf brandished its longsword and swung at Colden, but missed. Fulgrim cast Maximilian's earthen hand, causing a hand of compacted clay to rise up next to the spider and clutch at Orc3, who pushed back at the hand's grasping fingers and eluded easy capture. The spider grew confused and snapped at the transmuted hand, but came away disappointed. Black cluster eyes fixed on Colden, and the spider scuttled backward into the southeastern corner of the room.

When the dark elf missed, it was Colden's turn to smirk. He riposted, thrusting his handaxe at the elf, and dealing 10 points of damage. A purple flower of elf blood blossomed on the creature's side.

GM: X/D 3/13

Realizing he's blocking the hallway for his allies to get into the room, Guran draws his short sword and advances into the room to the space between the two lurkers on either side of the doorway. There he sees that the creature Colden just riposted against is still standing, so he sneak-attacks that one. [I'm going to assume he has advantage for having been unseen by the lurkers, so rolling d20 twice.]
[roll0] [roll1d20+5][/roll] [roll1] [roll2]

OOC: . . . and I fat-fingered the code for the second roll. I'll get this figured out eventually. . .:o

Guran continues his movement after his attack by going diagonally one square, even with Colden, but near the wall where he is still adjacent to the other doorway-lurker. (R44)

Guran darted into the room and slashed at the creature in the northwest corner, which, to his surprise, turned out to be an elf with dark skin sporting chain mail and a longsword. Guran's attack was a success--he slashed at the elf's throat, dealing a hit to a CRITICAL area for a total of 18 points of damage. Purple-hued blood ran rampant, and the elf toppled.

After his successful hit against the dark-skinned elf, Guran moved on a diagonal to stand even with Colden. That was when Guran noticed the other creature in the room--the betentacled terror in the southwest corner. As Guran scooted past it, the creature reacted by attempting to bite Guran. It was successful; razor-sharp teeth sawed into Guran's flesh, dealing 4 points of piercing damage. One of the creature's eyestalks angled toward Guran. With a flash of green light, Guran was momentarily confuddled.[sblock=Guran]Make a Wisdom saving throw DC 13. Failure indicates Guran can't take reactions until the end of his next turn, and Guran can't move. Additionally, failure indicates Guran must use his action on his next turn to make a melee or ranged attack against a randomly determined creature within range. If Guran can't so attack, he will do nothing on his next turn.[/sblock]

The orb-shaped creature with the eyestalks wafted through the air into the Q43, where it hovered. Roscoe found himself the target of the next eyestalk; the creature shot a beam of black light at the Halfling.[sblock=Roscoe]Make a Wisdom saving throw DC 13. Failure indicates Roscoe is frightened for 1 minute (PHB 290: disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls while the source of Roscoe's fear is within line of sight, and Roscoe can't willingly move closer to the source of his fear). If Roscoe fails the saving throw, he can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of his turns, with disadvantage if the orbed creature is visible to him. A successful saving throw ends the effect.[/sblock]

OOC: End of Round 1, beginning of Round 2. Spec's up to bat, [MENTION=23484]Kobold Stew[/MENTION]. Also, hell of a day here on my end. Got home at 7:40 pm, and am drinking. If there are errors (there shouldn't be), let me know and I'll amend tomorrow afternoon after I finish my 5k. Best, W.

Guran shook off the confusion that threatened to overtake his mind, his good dwarven common sense returning in a flood. He was not confused, though it seemed clear enough that the floating orb had attempted a magical attack of some species.

Seeing the floating ball of horror, Father Spec steps forward, terrified. He squeezes past Roscoe and tries to draw the beast's attention, shooting "Fharlanghn give me strength. All that I have."

He reaches out and attempts to grab the thing, as dark energy courses from his finger tips. He's not seen this happen before, and he is surprised at the tingling.

OOC: Move to p43 (15' of move, including double to squeeze by Roscoe).
Cast Inflict wounds with 2nd level spell slot. To hit: [roll0]. If successful [roll1] necrotic damage.
Can he then squeeze past and reach Q44? If so, he will. Otherwise, he will then use the remainder of his movement to fall back to where he was at N43, risking an opportunity attack.

OOC: Race trait: Brave - advantage on saving throws vs. being frightened.
Wis check vs. floating Orb of horror: 2#1d20 7 3

And then the floating horror came to sight, his eye fixed on Roscoe .... Roscoe absorbed the black beam and terror filled his heart.
Flee, flee the horror ... we cannot defeat it, we are lost!
The fear overwhelms the Halfling and he moves to cower behind Fulgrim.

OOC: Even if Spec killes it with his inflict spell I will role play the fear since the dead body of the thing lies there and Roscoe is not sure yet if the thing is dead.

Spec pressed forward. He reached out and touched his hand to the floating orb. Its hide was bumpy and pocked. Violet- and black-streaked dark energy coursed from Spec's hand to the floating orb, dealing 37 points of damage. The energy swathed the orb's exterior, then sank into the creature's hide. Where it did, it left a seeping open sore in the shape of Spec's hand. Seeing he couldn't round the corner into the room, Spec moved backward, retreating to his previous position in the hallway. As he did, the orb attempted to bite him, but missed. Spec saw the creature's teeth were razor sharp.

Roscoe fled in terror from the orb; the Halfling retreated down the hall and rounded the corner by Fulgrim.

OOC: Good thing light doesn't require Concentration. PHB 192--Spec's unable to squeeze around the corner containing the wall of the hallway and room while a foe is alive and occupying Q43. Colden's turn now, [MENTION=6787159]Skarsgard[/MENTION]!
