Creature Catalog III for the Scarred Lands setting

I actually moved this thread to Software, thinking it was about a Campaign Cartographer product.

A moment later I realised it probably wasn't, and shifted it back :)

Sanackranib, you can edit your first post by clicking on the lower right "edit" button of that first post and change the thread title to something clearer.

4 stars.

The art is better but still not up to White Wolf's highest standards.

The stats are better, but not all options are embraced. For example, many racial traits missing for "X as a character."

No master CR listing.

Outsider of that, good stuff all around with numerous monsters of various power levels. In some ways, more specific to SL as many of the angels have SL origins and change some base assumptions about their powers. Very good stuff. Review soon.

Hey San,

Happy new year-

As a SL DM, I picked it up with expectations of it being valuable if & when I get to run some sessions based in Termana, and I was pretty much correct, as a good portion of the beasties presented are supposedly found there. Along that theme, there are many new "animal" types. CC3 has lots of outsiders too ( Daemons, Demons & Devils - Belsameth's Watchman looks very cool ), and 23 pages of new Golem types ( **yawn*** ) Also some more support for the Carniaval Krewe, and a handful of new templates.

The art is hit or miss, like the first two books.

All in all, a pretty good book, but nothing really jumped out at me in a "use me next" kind of way. Filed it away after a few nights on the nightstand and I haven't pulled it out since then about a month ago. Hopefully I get some use out of it if & when we get to Termana, but right now Ghelspad is keeping us pretty busy.

as a Scarred Lands DM planning to eventually get his party to Termana, I picked it up on sight. Pretty much agree with BFG and JoeG. Useful for for any GM in a "wildlands" setting and really useful if you want to run an SL campaign on Termana.

CCIII, VERY good but have to agree with what a lot people are saying. The Artwork is pretty hit or miss. I do wish for a master CR list like they had in CC2. That would have been really good. But I guess they ran out space.

Haven't got it yet (as a contributing author for 2 whole monsters, I theoretically get 2 copies), but noticed when I flipped through in the shop that one of them had been drawn with wings when it had no fly speed (the Mosaic Custodian). It can still cast Fly at will, but that's not the point.

I'm still ridiculously proud, of course.
