CE vs. N (FFA): Very Young Howling Dragon vs. Thunder Worm

Barely noticeable until the scrying constructs zoom in for the benefit of the gallery, a puff of smoke enters the arena, floats to 60n 5e 5z and then manifests a frightening, fleshy face, that resembles nothing so much as Anna Nicole Smith after being told the all-you-can-eat buffet is closed.

Round 123: Kreepi charges to 60N10E, stabbing with his spear, which goes right through the puff of smoke (rolled 19+2=21 for charge).

Hoping for another chance at a successful gaze, Smoky then moves into 60n 10e 0z and tries to meld with Kreepi.

Smoky manages to touch Kreepi (rolled 15 touch attack), and Kreepi welcomes the meld (rolled 11 Will save), but does not welcome Smoky's attempt at domination (rolled 20 Will save).

Round 124: Kreepi is creeped out by this thing inside of him, so he runs out of the arena at 60N0E, taking Smoky with him. It is a draw.

Next in round 124 for Chaotic Evil is something that only Gansk knows.

Stunned silence reigns in the Shearing Pen.

Then, laughter erupts. Pip sloshes ale all over Apip, who doesn't seem to care, both caught up in the hilarity of the situation. "Ha ha! Didn't you see that?"

Apip wipes tears from his eyes, "Oh, man, that was funny."

OOC: Afraid I'm a bit lost as to what happened. Gaze didn't work during the charge, or before he melded, and it's normally paralysis, yes? So...voluntary "get me to a non-smoking section" run out of the arena, as opposed to a forced run? I suppose if your looking at "losing control to smoky the wonder cloud" escape certainly looks like a good option.

Up in the CE gallery, there is an uproar. The elders consider a rules challenge, but that falls apart when no one actually has a copy of the rules. Then the insults start, some goblinoid servants are obliterated in the cross-fire, and things are on the edge of a brawl until the serving staff calls for a round of free drinks for everyone...heavily dosed with tranquilizers. Normal, marginally violent quiet returns to the gallery.

The ogre petitioner, watching the combat on Pay-Per-View cable from home in the Abyss, laughs. "I guess I'm not the only one."

OOC: Not having access to the monsters, I'm not sure what happened, but it certainly seemed funny.

The gaze only works when the ghostly visage manifests its face on the host's body, not when the visage is on its own. This seems to be an ability that it uses against those the host is encountering. This was a voluntary run out of the arena to avoid being controlled by the scary smoke that could not be harmed by Kreepi's weapon.
