CE vs. N (FFA): Very Young Howling Dragon vs. Thunder Worm

Dopey will attempt a grapple. His plan will be to pin Hugh and drag him out of the arena to the shortest distance (10ft?) to the west. Obviously, hand-to-hand combat is not Dopey's forté. Who's stupid idea was it to have him attack Hugh?

JM misses with his AoO (rolled 10), and Dopey manages to touch JM successfully (rolled 23), but JM does not let Dopey hold on (rolled 19 vs. 18 grapple).

Round 277: JM bites for 7. Dopey is at 2 HP.
Dopey grabs JM (JM missed AoO) and holds on (rolled 22 vs. 19 grapple). Dopey does not inflict enough nonlethal damage to affect JM. They are both in 70N10E.

Dopey drags JM out of the arena (rolled 24 vs. 18 grapple). Dopey manages to get a draw out of what looked like a hopeless situation! Neutral cheers, and Chaotic Evil cries, "Foul!"

I think I am the only one with the Miniatures Handbook, so I will continue with Chaotic Evil.

Round 279: A misshapen head that seems to be all eye, supported by six thin spike-tipped limbs, whirls into the arena to 60N80E. It is about the size of a doppelganger.

Next in round 279 for Neutral is a medium smoke paraelemental (Manual of the Planes).

OOC: I really really really didn't think Dopey had that in him.

Smokey flies into the arena in a stunning display of smokey speed, ending up at 60N80E5Z (flying up and then down to avoid the AoO). He turns his dodge to the walking eye and pummels it into the ground. This 8ft-tall mass of black smoke weighs an astonishing 2 pounds. Since the walking eye is the same size as Smokey, no special abilities come into play. Time compress unless something unusual happens?

Time compress on.

Smokey claws for 4 (rolled 18). MS has 22 HP remaining.
Round 280: MS only uses two claws, and one hits for 5. Smokey claws for 5. MS has 17 HP. Smokey has 21.
Round 281: MS hits for 9; Smokey hits for 2. MS 15 HP, Smokey 12 HP.
Round 282: MS hits for 7; Smokey hits for 2. MS 13 HP, Smokey 5 HP.

Next in round 284 for Neutral is a desmodu guard bat (MM II).

Batavius hits (rolled 21) for 5. MS has 8 HP.

Round 284: MS steps to 60N75E and slashes air (rolled 9), and bleeds down to 7 HP.
Batavius bites again for 7 points of damage and steps to 60N70E10Z.
Round 285: MS bleeds down to -2 HP and is dying.

A tiny dark dragon with translucent scales flies into the arena to 60N70E20Z and breathes a cloud of smoky shadows at Batavius and continues on to 60N90E30Z. Batavius dodges any effect of the cloud (rolled 27 Ref save). Batavius is next in round 285.

Continue the spring attack carnage, attempting to line it up so that he ends movement at least 15' past the wee lizard each time (but attack anyway even if he can't).

Batavius cannot penetrate the dragon's hide (rolled 17).

Round 286: The dragon flies and bites (rolled 20) for 4. Batavius has 26 HP.
Batavius bites for 10 (rolled 23). The dragon has 20 HP remaining.
Round 287: The dragon misses, and bleeds down to 19 HP.
Batavius misses (rolled 17).
Round 288: The dragon breathes, and Batavius gains a negative level (rolled 12 Ref save), so is at -1 at most d20 rolls, and loses 5 HP, so is down to 21 HP. The dragon bleeds down to 18 HP.
Batavius misses.
Round 289: The dragon misses and bleeds down to 17 HP. Betavius misses.
Round 290: Both miss. Dragon down to 16 HP.
Round 291: Both miss. Dragon down to 15 HP.

Round 294: Dragon hits for 1. Betavius misses. Dragon at 3 HP. B at 20 HP.
Round 295: Dragon hits for 4. B misses. Dragon 1 HP. Betavius 16 HP.
Round 296: B dodges breath. Dragon is unconscious and falls. B goes down for CdG.
Betavius has 16 HP and is at 80N80E5Z.

Round 297: A small dwarflike humanoid in studded leather armor comes into the arena to 40N0E mumbling to itself. His skin is pale blue-white, and his eyes are huge and all white, just like his hair. He is holding a repeating light crossbow. Norman takes aim and fires, missing badly (rolled 12-2=10 for long range).

Does someone want to take over Norman the derro while I go back to Neutral?

Oh, sure, make us take over the Derro now that you've put him in a bad position. I'll tell you what, first have Batavius do a charging bull rush, then we'll take over CE. :)

OK. Batavius charges Norman, pushing him out of the arena (27 vs. 13 Strength check). Batavius is at 40N0E0Z. Wow. That worked better than biting.

First in round 298 for Chaotic Evil is a half-vampire gnoll (Libris Mortis). OK, guys, have fun taking over Chaotic Evil again.
