OOC: methinks the ghirrash couldn't really charge through the darkness or over the pit. But, I doubt it would alter the outcome of the fight too much. I vote to ignore it (and this post) and move on.

75N should be north of the darkness, I'm not sure about the sand.

Is the sand permanent or can it expire?

The effect that made the sand was an instaneous effect (soften earth and stone), so the sand is there for good and cannot be dispelled.
