Celebrity Game-Off

Well it's an over-used boring question, but put an RPG slant on it, and we're cooking with gas. Or rolling with dice. One of the two.

Which six famous (people we've heard of at least) people would you have in your gaming group if you could have anyone you wanted? Okay, so we have to assume that everyone in the world secretly wants to be a gamer (they do), and that their roleplaying skills would be some use (debatable), but given all that, who would you like for your all-star game?

The Rules:
You must have six players at the table, I don't care whether its a hippy game that works better with four and had no GM or whatever - you need to list six "players".

You must say Why for each choice, even if only a one-liner.

All reasons must be different

You're only allowed one Dead person, and we'll presume you would want them to be alive.

You're allowed one "luminary". An rpg writer, someone you met at a con, the best GM you've had etc.

You're allowed one fictional/mythical character as long as they're not primarily from gaming - so, Zeus would be okay, but Uni from the D&D cartoon is right out.

Don't try it on with the cast of a film, the members of a band or all of your best mates just to use up six slots quickly either.

Bonus question:
What roleplaying game would you play?

Answers on a postcard, you're being marked on this one.

And Here Are My Answers

Game would be D&D 4e, if I'm running it, because it's the game I'm happiest running at the moment! Probably some sort of mad, high-speed, high-fatality dungeon bash - I'd have prepared 50 or so spare character sheets for when deaths happened.

Round the table would be (trying to avoid repeating other people's picks):

Eddie Izzard, playing the Cleric, although he'd probably be a Cleric of an Odd Religion I hadn't considered.
Anthony Stewart Head, playing the Rogue. I can imagine he'd be a deeply brilliant player, and not shy of stabbing other people in the back if needed!
Nanny Ogg from the Discworld as my fictional player, playing the Fighter, because it would be utterly hilarious. And she'd bring beer, food and a nice sense of irreverance to everything.
My brother Mark, playing the Wizard, because he lives in the USA and I have gamed with him for a total of about 2 hours in my whole life and it would be great to spend some real time with him.
My brother Neal, playing a Warlock, because the three of us never get a chance to play together.
Albert Einstein, playing a Paladin, because I bet he'd learn the rules in a few minutes and then proceed to break them in the most inventive ways possible.

Only a short phone call away, should any of these players back out, would be Brian Blessed, Simon Pegg, Tom Baker, Bill Bailey, William Shatner (oh lord that would be entertaining), George Takei, Zachary Quinto.

The game would be Pathfinder (this is my system of choice currently). I’d be running it and the module would be The Mud Sorcerers Tomb. Plenty of pre-gen available just in case base characters didn’t last too long.

Round the table would be:

  • Bach, playing a human Bard. He is an awesome composer and performer and I’d love to see how well he’d tackle the role.
  • My sister, Johanna, playing the elven sorceress. She has never gamed before but she has a fascination with easy magics (not having to study it to use it) and is obsessed with elves (she has many glass figures of elves).
  • Monte Cook, playing a human wizard. Monte is an absolute genius when it comes to coming up with fresh material for arcane caster types.
  • Pastor Francis J. Pauly from my local church playing a dwarven cleric. He is actually a retired gamer and has helped parents come to term with the fact that a game
has no influence on how a person chooses to act. He has done a lot of artwork portraying dwarves and has even written an unpublished novel portraying 6 dwarves out on a treasure hunt.
[*]Jeremy T. Floyd playing a halfling rogue. Jeremy was a friend from my youth that loved The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings; many times we would play in his backyard pretending to be hobbits on Middle Earth having adventures.
[*]Charlie Halloway playing a half-orc paladin. Charlie brought the D&D game to my attention in 1992, he moved away 9 months later but we gamed an awful lot. I’d love to be able to play with him again.

Eberron

Arnold S. (aka The Terminator)
Warforged Fighter. "I will be back....after a repair spell"

Brad Pitt
1/2 Elf Rogue He just strikes me as a fun loving rogue

Robert Downey Jr.
Human Paladin He would make a paladin fun and less stuffy

Jessica Simpson
Human Bard In my game groups it is always customary to bring food to honor (buy off) the vicious DM. I present to you Jessica.

Sean Connery
Seasoned Breland Miliary leader or House Denith member (Fighter)

Alan Moore
elven Sorcerer or mage possibly necromancer. Why? for the coolness of it.

I would DM of course.

Adventure.... deals with Mournlands, 100 year War and something to connect them.
