Celestial creatures - does the HD change to a D10?

If I'm making a celestial cat, does it get a D10 HD?

Or does it stay at D8?

HD stay the same. The only templates that change HD are the undead ones.

Unless a template specifically says HD change, they do not. The celestial template mentions only type changing in some cases, and even specifically states that one should "not recalculate the creature's Hit Dice, base attack bonus, saves, or skill points if the type changes" (3.5 MM, pg. 31).

Not true, for the second statment. The half-dragon template, for example, increases racial HD by one size (to a max of d12).
