CG vs. N: Chaotic Good Victorious!

Phetomic enters the arena. He has bright gold feathers where his hair should be and orange red feathers running down the back of both arms.
He looks at the cloud of flaming motes and then at his sword, and shrugs.
He charges (60n35e)and smites it with his sword, try to tell if the blade or heat has any effect.

Phetomic's falchion hits the cloud, (rolled 18) but it oozes around the wound. (DR 9+) The heat of the sword did disturb it, so it takes 4 points of damage and has 28 hp left.

Round 347: The cloud tries to engulf Phetomic by moving into his square. Phetomic can take an AoO or try to dodge out of the way, which a successful result would put him in another adjacent square of his choice.

Phetomic can't get out of the way. (Rolled 12 Ref save)

Inside the cloud is like a fireball! Phetomic bathes in the heat and gains 7 temp hp!

Phetomic is also covered with glittery dust, but is not blinded by it. (Rolled 20 Will save)

Phetomic is considered to be grappled inside the oozy cloud.

Pheto enjoys the pleasent warmthbut tries to leave the cloud anyway.

OOC: I get iternation grapple checks to get out right? Is the cloud taking heat damage from my skin?

OOC: Yes, the cloud will take heat damage each round it is in contact on the cloud's turn, and you do get iterative escape attempts. The cloud took 1 point of fire damage when it engulfed Pheto, so it has 27 HP remaining.

Pheto got out his second attempt, and is at 60N40E.

Round 348: The cloud tries to engulf Pheto again. Reflex save to avoid or AoO? If the answer is Reflex save, will this be the answer every time?

yes he will try the same thing each time. If he gets out he will cast fire shield, after that he will just try and win grapple checks to inflict more heat damage.

Round 348: Pheto dodges the cloud (Ref save 21), steps back 5 feet, and casts Fire Shield.

Round 349: Pheto is engulfed in 60N50E (natural 1 Ref save). Pheto is not blinded, and gains 4 temporary hit points from the heat. Pheto is at 63 HP. The cloud takes 6 points of damage from the contact and 14 from the Fire Shield, leaving it with 7 HP.
Pheto escapes from the cloud to 60N45E.
Round 350: Pheto avoids the cloud. Pheto hits twice with his falchion, dealing no damage with the blade but dealing 6 fire damage. The cloud has 1 HP remaining.
Round 351: Pheto avoids the cloud. Pheto hits once with falchion, burning the cloud for 3. The cloud is dying. Pheto is at 60N35E, and has 63 HP.

Round 352: A hideous, huge creature with the body of a bloated water buffalo, stumpy legs, a long tail with a knob at the end, and a long neck ending in a head resembling a warthog, although much uglier stomps into the arena to 60N105E. It lifts up its head, and sends a thing, green ray at Pheto, hitting (rolled 21 ranged touch). Pheto dies  (rolled 17 Fort save), exploding in a burst of flame, although the flames do not reach the creature. A small, black egg appears momentarily, then is teleported out of the arena.

Next in round 352 for Chaotic Good is a vazalkyon (MM III). It is exactly the same as a phoelarch except it is of the cold subtype, and any heat or fire abilities the phoelarch has, just substitute in cold (eg. Freezing Ray, Produce Icicle).

*Squwak*
exactly the same thing, as the last champion, only blue

Cold Pheto will enter at 100n05e and cast cold shield.

The old timers in the stands will shout :
WTF ? a disintegrate ray? those creatures are supposed to kill with gaze attack.
If it can do that every round we are going to burn through a lot of champions.

Round 353: Apparently, the creature cannot do it every round, because it does not do it now. It lumbers forward to 60N75E, waving its tail back and forth.
