Champions of the Scarred Lands....A novel?

Is this a novel of short stories or something like the gazetteer?

Uhm not quite...

What this is, when R&R was having it's open call, there was also an open call for STORIES about the Scarred Lands. So really it's an anthology about the Scarred Lands, but it probably WON'T affect the way the line will go. They already have something in the mix for that, as they will have a trilogy about a Forsaken elf and his quest to bring back their dead/lost demi-god.

Anyone get a chance to see this? Can we get some comments from the writers/publishers? Thanks.

I've already read three of the stories, and they vary, as one would expect in an anthology.

I had already read Anthony Pryor's story "In Sunlight and Shadow," which is about Barconius and his encounter with Dar'Tan (since I'm writing the forthcoming Penumbral Pentagon book). Its good, and I also liked "Feast of Famine at Burok Tom," about the dwarf King Thain (a poor choice of name, IMO).

I've only read about half of the stories; none of the others stood out particularly out as good or bad---they were fine/average/whatever thus far.

I wasn't sure if I should get it but that one about Barconius fighting Dar'Tan, I might just have to get now so I can read it.

Btw, Gro, any chance you'll give us a hint as to what to expect, like maybe a listing of whose in this inner circle then? I know Dar'Tan and Dar'Gartal are two of them, (I forget is Shan Joz an actual leader or just one of Dar'Tan faithful servants?) but who are the rest? Are there only five OR are there more?

I haven't had time to read more of the stories yet, but Anthony's definitely remains my favorite so far, Nightfall.

There are ten stories in the book.

As for me being special, I had only read the Dar'Tan/Barconius story ahead of time, as part of my writing stuff. I didn't get to check out the whole book until it was generally available---so, I might be a little special, but not very much 8->
