Chapel Hill, NC group needs a player or two for a 3.5 FR campaign

First Post
I'm the DM, and we currently have 3 other players. We just lost our 4th.

I'm a UNC grad student. I'm off and on through the summer.
One is an Emory grad student. He's pretty solid through the summer.
Another is a bookseller/judo guy. He's fairly solid through the summer...on the right days.
The last is a journalist in Fayetteville. He's fairly solid through the summer...on the right days.

Unfortunately, we have trouble all getting together on the same day since two of our schedules are often mutually exclusive (lately). That means we can't play. Unless we get another player or two.

We would prefer a somewhat experienced player. Male or female. mid 20s to 30s (our age range). We get along well with mature folks with diverse interests. We're a sort of unique crew.

The PCs are mid-level in a fairly high-powered campaign. When I'm unavailable or eager to play a PC, one of the other guys runs a side game (currently one long standing homebrew and several short session games happen). Pretty much any class is fine. We survived for months with no tank in a party led by a bard. We usually play Saturday, but Sunday is a definite possibility.

The ability to get to Chapel Hill is a must. On very rare occasions we play in Durham. We like each other and want a fun person to join us. Email me at uncdevil@hotmail.com.

*makes a face* And where were all the gamers two years ago before I graduated from Chapel Hill? :P

Have you tried posting an advert for the game/gaming group over at Cerebral hobbies? (used to be on Franklin Street, but moved location last year as I recall. -insert comment about it not being a posh and preppy enough store for Franklin street like the martini bar-)

We were all in that stupid basement

And we left Franklin Street for parking. Having run the place for 10 years, I was pretty tired of having to find a place to stash the car every day. I know many of the customers felt the same way

Oh, and for the rest of you, we're at 265 S Elliott Rd -- right across the street from the Burger King.

Alright, that makes sense. I dropped by the old location last year since I needed to grab some dice for a game that weekend and had forgotten my own. (no longer live in Chapel Hill obviously) And found that you all had moved. I'd assumed that either the rent got raised on you all, or Chapel Hill was trying to poshify Franklin Street even more and was forcing folks out. Glad to hear that I was wrong in that thought. The parking makes sense, it was always an issue. :)

I think Chapel Hill'd be lucky to fill out Franklin Street right now, never mind poshify it. I've only been here a couple of years, but I need two hands to count the businesses that have closed/moved out since I got here. It's kind of frightening.

Best,
Nick

Hey Steve.

Yes, I have looked at the listings at Cerebral Hobbies, and I guess I could post one of my own. The three postings there right now aren't right for my group for one reason or another (bad experience with one, one's an undergrad and probably not here this summer, and the last are a couple who want players of their own).

In any case, I posted a message there today. I'm afraid I offended a younger player by specifying a minimum age in my post.

Do y'all feel that's bad form on my part? We want stable players who will be around for a while. Stable in terms of mobility (and maturity, too, I guess).

I think it's better to be honest about what you're looking for upfront, so, no, I don't think it's bad form. You could have been pleasantly surprised by a younger player, but I think the risks of it likely outweigh that possibility.

Best,
Nick
