Except "later" never actually happens, and the "simple thing" remains as an ugly hack with a TODO comment forever. This happens all the time in software development. ALL. THE. TIME.

Never said otherwise. But it's the difference between a poorly implemented plan and a strategic decision that intentionally shafts customers.

The problem is that many posters on this board (and others) infer malice from the actions of WotC without justification. ALL. THE. TIME.

As Confucius one said, "Paranoia Self Destroyer".

But since an ugly hack that works is much better than elegant software that's not shipping, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.
