Character Builder has been Updated!

Oh just in case anyone hasn't heard:

If you use iPlay4e and want to import, make sure you save the character you're exporting from the CB first- otherwise it won't work. If you save then export, the exported character will in fact work with iplay4e! :)

I was about to complain about the bugs I had found, then checked, they are already on the known bugs list.

So that aside...Hooray!

What I do like is this is a good sign for the CB. They have had a month, and they have delivered a robust upgrade. I know alot of you didnt get the features you wanted (please dont turn this into yet another "The CB Sux because...Im cancelling my subscription thread", its getting old) and indeed this did not have everything I wanted, but it is a step in the right direction

I like what I've seen (exporting works fine, the new classes are good), though I still have some issues.

One is that sunleaf armour isn't listed as an option for leather armour, even though it should be.

The second (and bigger one) is that printing (even printing to PDF with cutePDF) currently just prints completely blank sheets (as in completely white)... I'm going to be restarting my computer at some point to see if that fixes this.

If anyone who's a subscriber tries exporting, then importing, several characters, could you report on the results?

I've heard rumors of a couple good recent adventures. If they've also made the character builder work for more than 20 characters (through import/export), I might resubscribe for a month and give DDI another chance to impress me.

  • Campaign settings editor is not implemented.
  • Custom character portraits are not implemented.
  • Custom items creation/editing is not implemented.
  • Only two character sheets are available.
  • Play data cards are not implemented.
  • Power cards are not customizable.
That these are listed as "issues" on the Known Issues List suggests to me that they are things they are working on implementing. Stealth preview?

I keep hoping that because all of it seems to revolve around cutomizing, that they're going to release it all (turn it on) in some sort of outside tool... Perhaps as part of adventure tools... DM (or anyone) creates all the custom features in AT, then that campaign shows up in the CB just like the others.

I had tried it previously (as in the first few days after it came out) with a character from the old builder, and it didn't work - it as it was easier for me simply to re-enter the character (plus, it let me learn how the new builder worked), I didn't bother fiddling with things to try to get it to work.

Today I did try the export then import with a character I had just made - and it worked great. Only done it once, though... I'll try some more later.

Fixed:

The Knight feature Greater Combat Readiness now shows up on the character sheet. (By which I mean the bonus; I believe it already showed up in the feat list.)

The Human bonus power Heroic Effort now shows up on the character sheet.

Not fixed:

The Devout Warpriest utility 11 power Divine Resurgence does not show up on the character sheet.

Masterwork chainmail is not selectable in the Marketplace when "Show Suggested Items" is checked.

Inherent Bonuses Toggle: Nope (ARGH)

Not a bad content/bugfix release. Keep 'em coming!

I may be missing somethingm but does it show anywhere on the character builder or the character sheet how many power strikes an essential character gets?
