Character Builder WTFs per minute

Who wrote this thing? It's abysmal. I've only used it as much as I had to, and my WTFs per minute are between 3 and 7.

My printed character (7th level) is 7 pages. SEVEN PAGES!? Aren't we trying to save a tree here boys?

As a Wizard, I get to pick 2 level 1 daily spells, but I can only have 1 available. In my printout, Acid Arrow is on the bottom of page 4, Flaming Sphere is in the middle of page 7. This is a huge pain.

I'm a problem solver. I'll parse the XML and organize my spells myself... Now it all becomes clear: this is the worst XML I have ever seen. I'm not just being gnerdy about reading the data file - I mean OMG this is horrible. It's "All your base are belong to us" bad. If the data format is so ugly - I can just imagine how bad the actual program code is.

It's going to make my head esplode if I don't complain on the internets about it.

We were at our game yesterday and one of the players had a question about her character sheet at the start of the session that nobody could figure out. We didn't have the appropriate book at the gaming location, so we decided to get online with the Character Builder to find out real quick. We tried 4 times to start to create a PC and when it screwed up and gave us error messages again and again, we finally decided to load up the old offline Character Builder and got our answer in about a minute. We probably could have gotten the answer from the Compendium, but we weren't sure which feat or class ability was the issue, so we thought it would be faster with CB.

I feel sorry for people still paying WotC good money for this level of service.

The old CB was buggy and bloated too. I think the new one is prettier, and I hope the bugs will be sorted soon.

The only thing I really take issue with is the 1gb+ print spooling, and printing to a pdf helps with that a little.

The size of the files are rediculous . No wonder we only got 20 characters per account!

20 characters would be like 150 MBs of space. I know that the cCB didn't have space problems like that.

I guess I'm still in the minority on this, but with the exception of the print spool sizes, I have absolutely zero *real* complaints about the online Character Builder. =/

The new character builder is working fairly well for me.

However, I really do not like the way they handle equipment. I haven't been able to delete equipment (at least some of the time, haven't checked recently), and I do not like either of the new character sheets and don't see why they couldn't have left well enough alone at least with the "character builder" character sheet. It would also be nice to be able to use the mouse wheel to scroll through the character sheet.

All that being said though, it does certainly work for me, I just wish it were more similar to the old CB. While it certainly works, I do think they need to fix a lot of bugs with it first.

I've become pretty comfortable with it myself, though there are certainly some problems. But the OP brings up one of the big ones -- we need to be able to reorganize the power cards on the sheets. At the very least, sort them by usage -- at-will, encounter, daily. Ordering by level is the worst possible option.

Also, please allow us to take powers from lower levels. I still can't believe that doesn't work.
