D&D 5E Check Out GF9's Witchlight DM Screen

With Wild beyond the Witchlight coming out on the 21st, here's a quick glimpse of the DM Screen coming from Gale Force 9.

The Witchlight Carnival is a fairground of kaleidoscopic tents and wagons crewed by wondrous beings is brought to life on your tabletop through this screen, with tables for carnival scenes games and prizes, as well as for tracking your party's time spent in the festivities.

I particularly like the image the Spider reading a story to the woodland creatures. And it looks like we now know what the official art for the Fairy lineage looks like. Also, that seems to be the Hag version of Iggwilv there.

I enjoy and have purchased a majority of the GF9 D&D products with each storyline release. My only small complaint is the timeframe, many come out few months after the adventure. I’m not sure the lead time WoTC gives 3rd party partners of physical products buts just wish the GF9 came out close to the same time.

I wish they'd gone with the giant spider reading to the assembled woodland creatures for the cover art. It evokes a much more original adventure than the "spooky 19th century circus" cover.

I'm not sure I have any great desire (as of now) to run this campaign, but I might grab those maps because the art is wonderful!

I have several of the GF9 DM screens, and they're all varying degrees of awful. The information they tend to provide is situational at best, or downright useless at worst. They all seem to work under the impression that you either command a perfect knowledge of the rules with immediate recall, or that you're using one of the other DM screens in conjunction with the campaign-specific screen.
5e seems cursed to not have a competent DM screen. The screen that came with the wilderness kit is the best they've released so far, in terms of both art and information provided. It's a shame that it has taken five years into the lifespan of the edition for a decent screen to be produced.

I agree with you completely. I purchased one a few years back and haven't bothered since. I have to wonder though... why keep purchasing them? Let them know how you feel by not supporting a substandard product in my opinion.

Possibly unpopular opinion/reaction: the increased commercialism of 5e products bothers me for some reason. You have screens, expensive miniatures collections, platinum editions, premium dice, and the like. I realize this reaction doesn't make total sense, since this kind of stuff has always been around, and people do enjoy it, and some people have money to enjoy things the way they want to. But combined with people feeling the need to double purchase the item on dndbeyond or through their VTT of choice, I get a vibe of "if you buy all these things, your game will be better."

A mix between liking the art, wanting to have a cool visual reminder for my players that we're doing a big campaign, and also the misguided belief that they might've actually made a useful screen. Needless to say, I've learned my lesson and won't be grabbing any more of the GF9 screens.
