Check the Math on my first attempt at a half-dragon

First Post
I think I blew the math on this guy - he's a half-red-dragon half scrag (aquatic troll). If you're bored or just love to apply templates check my work here.

Please good sirs and madams, I have no math skills for I am only a graduate student in history and such numerology is beyond my small and shriveled mind.

Well...

As A fellow graduate student who does philosophy of math and is a template crazed DMing monster, I'll give you a hand.

First off, the speed is totally whack! What's going on here?

Speed 30ft/160ft fly, average maneuverability/ 50 swimming

It should be (assuming that swimming is their normal speed):

Speed 30ft/50ft fly, average maneuverability/ 50 swimming

You forgot to account for strength in the attacks. Should be:

Attacks: 2 claws +16 melee, bite +11 melee (Rage: +2 to all attacks)

Damage from claws changes due to the template:

Damage: Claw 1d8+10, bite 1d6+5 (Rage +2 to all damage)

And the Rend is slightly off.

Rend 2d8+15 (rage +3)

Among the special qualities should be low-light vision, though it hardly matters.

Missing some stat modifiers (I think) from the saves:

Saves: Fort +15, Ref +5, Will +6 (Rage: +2 to will save)

(I noticed you boosted the Wisdom by 4 for some reason and the intelligence by an extra 2.)

Skills: The character should have 48 skill points as a troll, plus 12 skill points as a barbarian. Maxing out listen and spot (and swim) as a troll, and taking the other skills as cross-class, we can get:

Skills: (From 1/2 dragon/scrag) Listen (rank 9), Spot (Rank 9), Search (Rank 3), Sense Motive (Rank 2.5), Appraise (Rank 4), Balance (Rank 1), Swim (Rank 9), (From bbn) Listen (rank 2), Spot (rank 2), Search (rank 3),.

For a total of Listen +12, Spot +12, Search +6, Sense Motive +3, Appraise +4, Balance +1, Swim +19. (Of course, you can shuffle that around a bit)

You may want to give scrags a bonus to swimming, though I'm not sure that swimming monsters need to make swimming checks.

The half-dragon should have 2 feats as a half dragon. Now this is wher it gets tricky... do you give out feats at 1/3 levels total? Well, let's start the guy out fresh at 1st level, so he gets 2 more feats. So your count looks good.

How's that?

THANKS!

I knew I'd botched it, I just couldn't figure out how. Now I have a mathematically correct troll who is immune to fire, and can attack from land, sea and air. I made him a little smarter because I see him as a recurring villain. Thanks again.

Okay, now I gotta know, Ryan, what'cha going to use him for?

By the way, you managed to find that other gnome, Vinceni. Even though it required Stalin inciting a whole swarm of Elves to nearly kill him. :)

RW - He *may* be showing up in "Return to the Temple of Elemental evil" (in the Forgotten realms) when I return home and run a game with my old group. :)

Keep me abrest of what goes down in the game now that I am in paper writing heck.
