Cheezorama: 2 lances spirited charging multiple 3x damage attacks, etc.

Hi all,

I'm looking for rules to fit a concept. I'm playing in a 1-shot "bring your best cheeze" PC, level 16.

So, I was hoping to leverage spirited charge, power attack, and using 2 lances on a mount.

Lance = 2 handed weapon useable with 1 hand when mounted; still gets 2x power attack however (because it's a 2-handed weapon, strict rules interpretation).

So, you can use 2 of these on a mount, spirited charge and all that.

MAJOR PROBLEM: I need an ability/spell/etc that allows a full round action after a charge (in order to do multiple attacks with both lances). Else you just get one attack, boo hiss.

Is there such a thing? I could have sworn reading a class ability or spell (? pounce?) that would allow a full attack action after a charge.

The idea is a variation of the old smiting paladin thing: get the to-hit bonuses as high as possible with both lances, then attack at 3x damage with some reasonable power attack thrown in for extra pain.

Is this cheeze possible, mechanically?

Yup. And 1.5x Str bonus with the primary hand. You'll have to check with your DM abuot the off-hand, though; it's a two-handed weapon, so it's 1.5x, but it's an off-hand weapon, so it's .5x. As a DM, I'd rule that the off-hand rule trumps the two-handed rule in this case, so you'd deal 1.5x / .5x.

Lion's Charge spell, Drd2, Sor/Wiz 2, Savage Species.
Psionic Lion's Charge power, XPH.
Lion's Pounce [Wild] feat, one of the Complete books.
A few PrC abilities.

Your best bet, if Savage Species is allowed, is to get a few potions of Lion's Charge. (It also has a duration... with Ride-By Attack, you could charge back and forth a few times before it wears off...)

However, note that if you're looking at strict rules interpretation, Lion's Charge (and the psionic version) don't actually let you make a full attack with all your charge bonuses. As written, you get your normal charge attack, and then you can follow that with a full attack. So you get one attack more than a normal full attack, but only that one attack is actually part of the charge... no triple damage etc on your full attack.

The druidic feat, on the other hand, explicitly replaces the single attack in the charge with a full attack, so all attacks would be 'while charging'.

Don't forget your Rhino Hide armor. There are also a few other feats, PrCs, and weapon abilities in various books that take effect while charging... I think I saw a charge build in 3E once that got a x11 modifier (x13 on a critical) while charging. Unfortunately, a lot of those multipliers have been replaced with flat damage bonuses (like Rhino Hide).

Consider getting Oil of Bless Weapon (or similar) for your lances to increase the likelihood of a critical.

Pounce being a druid feat?

Can you use it when mounted?

Is there a serious prerequisite? Can I go Druid1/Paladin whatever? Mind you, having a lot of Druid levels ain't exactly horrible, power wise.

Does the feat allow you to full attack with all charge bonues all day, or is it a 1/day type of thing?

Still, whatever. As long as there is a Druid feat that allows it, I'm golden. Plus boots of speed for another attack.

At level 16, with some Druid levels thrown in there, maybe only 3 base attacks and 1 extra off-hand attack plus haste attack; that's 5 attacks at 3x (and maybe much more) damage.

Hmm...investigating further...

Thanks for the input ! Looks like it's possibly, mechanically!

A [Wild] feat.

I can't see why not. But as a [Wild] feat, it costs a Wildshape use to use... one per charge.

So you need to be at least 5th level Druid, and even then you don't get to do it very often.

There's also the Dual Strike feat in one of the Complete books. It lets you attack with two weapons as a standard action, rather like Manyshot. True Strike would work wonders on it:)

... which means it can't be combined with a charge, so it doesn't really fit what he's after.

If Eberron is allowed, you could be a Shifter and take 3 levels of Weretouched Master with the tiger to get Pounce (Ex) while shifted.
