FYI, my computer at home has gone south in the last couple of days. Hopefully, I'll be able to fix it by the weekend, but for the time being I'm only online while at work. This may haev no effect whatsoever, but it allows me to bump the thread and keep eveyrone informed. :)

Uh, BUMP.

Well, we seem to have a pretty good selection of events, with a hefty amount of modern/sf games, as well as what I'm assuming is the first "seminar" offered at a game day. My 'puter should get resurrected this weekend, which means I can get started creating some banner ads and working on the official gameday site.

Woo!

I am more than happy to give pointers to anyone interested. I love to paint and to talk about it.

The exact format will be decided after people sign up. I want to know more about the skill level of the participants before I lock myself down. I will be creating a handout and will make extra copies and can always email it to people who are interested.

If there are several beginners I will cover preping the miniature (removing flash lines, bases priming...) and will probably buy 4-6 of the same miniature and have them based and primed and prepare kits to go step by step.

If no beginners are available then I can focus just on specifics such as layering or faces. The only thing I can offer very little on is NMM (non metal metallics) as I am still working out that myself.

For those that are beyond that I will have the handout and will demonstrate and technique that I can.

If you want to see some of my work i have misc stuff posted on CMoN under the name Digital M@

New comic- game store by O'hare in Schiller Park.

Hey everyone,
A new comic and game store opened in Schiller Park by O'hare near my house. They are open for business now and I plan to check them out to see what product lines and games they offer and what events they host. I have seen quite a few tables in there before they actually opened. It might be a good base to recruit players and interested shoppers for Gameday! Believe it or not, there are still many gamers out there that do not even know about Games Plus yet! Most of them are newcomers that have just moved to the city and looking to continue their gaming here. I make it a point to tell the newcomers in my groups to just go shopping at Games Plus. The Wizards of the Coast store closed in Woodfield Mall so the only retail outlet left is "overpriced" Gamers Paradise in Woodfield Mall, Golf Mill and Harlem Irving Plaza. Hobbytown USA in Oak Park is good if you do not mind the drive and poor parking in the area.

From the North, take IL 45 Mannheim Rd south to Lawrence Av (O'hare Aerospace Center), make a left and head east for about a 1/2 mile until you reach the first viaduct at Ruby St (9800W). It's on the south side of Lawrence in the building right before the viaduct. There is parking on Ruby St alongside the building.
From Chicago, take Lawrence Ave (4800N) into Schiller Park (past River Rd) until you reach the viaduct at Ruby St (9800W). When you passed River Rd, it would be the 2nd viaduct as the first one is merely a bridge.

KTT, do you want me to post this as the "summary" for your event?

This may not take up slot six, but for the second session I would like to offer the A B C's of painting miniatures.

This class would be open ended to answer questions, demonstrate techniques etc. Find out about thinning paints, blending, layering, dry brushing etc. I will also cover materials used, from thinning agents to brands of paint, glue etc.

This would be me. I'm pretty good with inks and drybrushing but don't do a lot of thining, blending, or layering so don't know a thing about thinningagents although I hear that the Valejio paints are the top brand right now.
