Bad news, folks. My wife is coming down with something fierce, and I cannot leave her home alone and sick with four kids while I go play D&D in Chicago. I hate to do it; especially at this late date, but I'm gonna have to back out.

Quickbeam and I were scheduled to ride together, and he did indicate to me a little earlier today that he'd be unlikely to come by himself, but I'll let him confirm that for sure.

Josh, I am sorry to hear this. I hope your wife will be better soon.

Sir Brennen, Joshua Dyal and Quickbeam live in the Detroit metro area. I hope that Quickbeam can make it.

Buzz, if Quickbeam CANNOT make it, then I am willing to run Menagerie in the morning as well. (Trevalon Moonleirion played in the original version -- at the first Gameday. There will be some changes -- including having a long standing enemy of the PCs in the adventure. Yes, someone your character will LOVE to hate.) This would remove me from Ninjacat's games, but I am willing to step up to the plate. (The Gameday must go on.) Or I could try to run another adventure, RAID. (Thalmin and Trevalon played in this one.) It might be easier to run the same adventure twice.

FC, a friend of mine who was at Origins said that a lot of the Serenity demo games were cancelled for some reason, and posited that demos in general of the game might be on hold for a bit. Do you know wnayhting about this?
Okay Buzz, I got clarification as to what occured at ORIGINS. This note is from Jamie Chambers *THE* head guy for the Serenity RPG (barring Margaret of course). He said:

Actually what happened is that I wasn’t able to go to Origins. I was supposed to run several slots of Serenity and Dragonlance in “Play With the Creator” events. Though I had some fellow creators in my stead, the GAMA staff cancelled all of the events I had scheduled instead of allowing Renae to come up with alternate GMs. She was treated pretty badly. It only concerned Origins, so any further demos are fine. Go for it! Spread the word to them that needs it!

I have to say that the ORIGINS Management was exceddingly ghastly this year. I have never seen a convention run so inadequately and with as little common sense or common courtesy for those that attended it.

Anyone who stood in line for Gen Con Indy a few years back would have been amazed at how much better GEN CON had done in that FUBAR compared to the entirety of this CON. Had this been my first time at ORIGINS, it would have (and may still well be) my last.

At any rate.

SERENITY is on scheduel. The demos are running.

For those who haven't read JD's post from earlier this afternoon, it appears the rumored effect of his bad news is accurate -- namely, that I will be unable to attend in his absence. I just returned home from our family vacation about an hour ago, and really cannot spare another 500+ miles on my leased vehicle. This Gameday was going to be Josh's turn to drive, and his wife's illness certainly takes priority over our gaming...sadly.

I will look to see if another friend is willing/able to drive and split the overnight costs before officially determining my attendance and event are canceled. I am truly sorry. I was looking forward to running the CoC game and playing in Mark's, not to mention seeing all my Chicago Gameday pals. Please understand and forgive my absence.

JD -- I hope Julie feels better soon.

Wow! That's a bad break. I hope she feels better.

Under the circumstance, and rather than having two half-strength games, I'm going to ask if my three remaining players (Barendd Nobeard, gperez1234, and pogre) would mind sliding over into the three opens seats at William Ronald's game?

Unfortunately, due to important schedule conflctions, I need you to pull me and my friend out of our games in slot 2. :( (We'll still be coming for breakfast and slot 1, though! :) )

By request of Mark please me over to said game.

Shadowbane and pogre: Done!

Joshua Dyal and Quickbeam: Teh suck! I'm sorry you won't be making it. :(

I've gone ahead and removed Quickbeam's and Mark's events from the schedule. I've also emailed the Gameday list notifying people of the schedule changes and what events have open seats.

This means that mostholycerebus, Barendd Nobeard, Trevalon Moonleirion, Kid Charlemange, and Sir Brennen will have their morning open, and... Barendd Nobeard and gperez1234 have their afternoon open. I believe all of these folk are on the mailing list, save for maybe Sir Brennen (can't receive PM's, unfortunately).

William, let's hold off on scheduling a morning Menagerie. We actually have enough seats open in other events to accomodate everyone, and walk-ins are less frequent in the a.m. anyway.

Nice job jumping on this Buzz, you Rock!

I am sorry to hear our MI friends will not be able to make it. At least now we can make anti MI jokes without fear. Anyone know any anti MI jokes? I only know anti WI jokes :(
