Good Heavens, I spawned commentary!

*cue evil laughter*

PB, I too considered plots with a timed failsafe, one of the first things that crossed my mind when somebody said "half-slot"... ..definitely a tried & true method. Plus, the plot of the game becomes pretty straightforward. Party must escape/prevent the timed event. No mysteries to get bogged down in the investigation of, which always has the one-shot GM pulling his hair out as a slot draws to a close, lol...

Thalmin, that's a good point r.e.: time to teach/set-up/etc... ..realistically, we're probably looking at two 2-hour games with a small margin for overtime, ergo 15 minutes to set each up. (I'm probably talking worst-case-scenario here, but better pleasantly surprised after playing devil's advocate than the opposite, no?) Also, PB's cheat-sheets are a great idea, especially as these half-events are theoretically all about introducing people to new systems anyway. Good thing I play fast & loose with any & all rules...?

Buzz... ..Buzz, Buzz, Buzz. Allow me to take this opportunity to thank you for your input. If nobody else provides any, yours wins by default, with only the possibility of my finding spontaneous inspiriation elsewhere in your way!
That being said... ..did you have anything more specific in mind? Sunnydale? LA? Just Jossverse in general (I'm tempted to pull a setting from a supplemental sourcebook if I do this one...)? What about the superheroes? Any specific team/genre/style you have in mind or would like to see? (AnyEVERYbody else, feel free to jump in on these suggestions!!!)

No specific requests; I just like those games. :)

Ninjacat-

For the "Jossverse" game (catchy), I think the feel matters more than the specific location.

For the superheroes, I would vote angsty mutants (i.e. 80s Claremont, not 00s "New X-Men"). :)

Ninjacat-

I personally would play any game by Eden Studios, just love the Unisystem. I also think the loose Cinematic feel makes for quicker pick-up by noobs and easier character help by GMs.

While I have a spot in my heart for Buffy/Angel (ah, the puns run to easily) I think a session of All Flesh Must Be Eaten would be perfect for a quick, timed game.

"You're in you're apartment surrounded by zombies. Why? Who knows. You and your neighbors have to get to the airport by noon to catch the last government resuce plane out of Zombietown. Good luck with that. Roll the dice..."

Personally, I've got one player who refuses to play anything other than D&D. It's like eating nothing but pepperoni pizza day in and day out... Every now and again, I want some sausage and mushrooms or maybe even anchovies on my pizza.

I am one of the people that play nothing but D&D... and have for 30+ years now :)
as for anchovies.. bring em on.. the more the merrier.. I love em!

Okay, y'all, methinks I'm decided. With my fellow ENWorlders' input narrowing the field and a bit of random inspiration, um, inspiring during the doldrums of work (work=8 hour shift of doldrums, prettymuch) today... ..It Has Been Decided.

Yeah, yeah, wasting capital emphasis on a minor half-slot decision. 'Sok, I may change my ever-mercurial mind yet again anyway. But I'll try not to, for Buzz's sanity's sake.

2nd half of my slot shall be M&M Land of the Lost Heroes, as previously stated.
1st half shall be:

"Jossverse" Unisystem, Eden Studios

It's the End of the World As We Know It Pretty Much Period...

Well, terrific. A local Big Bad with a yen for the bad sort of mojo has discovered the location of the tiny Hellmouth that makes your college town such an exciting place to live. Turns out he thinks he can use his mystic might to open the Hellmouth and become All-Powerful, as opposed to simply unleashing Hell on Earth. So, it's up to you and your fellow Chosen Warriors to stop him... ..if you could just remember where he is... ..who he is... ..who you are..... ....Aw, crap.

Jossverse with a twist... ..'cuz honestly, what would BtVS or AtS have been without twists?

Buzz, please adjust my entry to reflect this, Thxsomuch. :)

While I think the mini game concept is cool, I'm gonna stick to running my full session version of Cthulhu BRP and playing in Mark's afternoon/evening game.

As for RPGA, I'm fine either way. I happen to be a fledgling member with a couple points to my credit, but have no strong feelings for against this suggestion.
