China, Bankok, North Carolina...

Just as an aside, Bangkok isn't actually named Bangkok. It's got the longest place name in the world...
Actually....

The longest single-word name of a place on Earth is:
Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipuakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu. This place is a Moari name for a hill in New Zealand and consists of 85 letters.By the way, the name means “The place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed, and swallowed mountains, known as land-eater, played on the flute to his loved one."
Oh, and there's lots of good technical/secret jobs here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We got Kirtland AFB and Sandia National Laboratories. You have to like your climate hot and dry, though. The water required to keep a lawn alive is pretty expensive. We have reasonably friendly people, though statistically a good number of them are drunk at any given time. We're a poor state, but people working with the labs (or one of the subcontractors, like me) are pretty well off. The cost of living is really low.

Isn't the Black Mesa research facility also in New Mexico...?

Well, it was, but there was that incident a few years back and, well, we don't like to talk about it much.

Of course, now we're the only landlocked state to produce it's own version of crab legs...
:)

Well, you did leave open the possibility of '...anywhere in the world"

My general knowledge of such things is that the most desired post for diplomats is Paris.

I would suggest Australia, but actually, I've never been there, but I'd love to if I had the opportunity. It has a lot of gamers.

i'll have to look into this one. but i would be near Sydney

I would pick China. When you look back at this period of history 30 years from now, my bet is that China is the country that is going to see the most dynamic change. It's the place that will allow you to be the biggest eyewitness to history.

As a bonus, decades from now you could hold forth to the youngsters about how pre-Olympics China was *so much better* than the modern corrupted state, and that any other China is just a pale imitation. ;)

Oh I also wanted to say I am disappointed with the pedestrian suggestions of many of the members here. ;) We're D&D players! Have a sense of adventure!

China China China

Aside from the reasons Cordo gave (ie, they will be the country 50 years from now) the place is just badassed. I stayed in Beijing for a year studying, and the place is brilliant. Friendly people, best food evar, cool language you can impress your friends with, easy to travel to what decadent westerners consider Exotic Locations.

Go to China.
Go to China or I will be disappointed.

Unfortunately, the RPG community there is rather small and confined to a portion of the ex-pat community. They can be found though!

they filled the nc job.

san diego and phoenix both surfaced tho.

and as for china...looks like it is not in country. they don't want US in there.

my wife might take the SARS job. which would mean travel to and from China every year. during the SARS season.

i wouldn't get to go. :(
