Definitely a +2 on Intimidate checks. More if you use it to burn people.

(Hey, none of you had upperclassmen in High School doing that?)

How long does it take you to get out your cigarette and light it?

Retrieve a stored item: Move Action
Light a fire using a tindertwig: Standard Action
Return item to storage container: Move Action

So, two move actions to retrieve the tindertwig and cigarette, one standard action to light the cig, and another move action to put your pack away. Two full rounds according to the rules, but that seems like an excessive amount of time so I'd rule it a full-round action.

As far as the mechanical effects of nicotine addiction, I'd suggest:

For each hour, awake, the addicted character does not consume nicotine, she must succeed at a fortitude save DC 10 or receive a cumulative +1 morale bonus to strength and -2 morale penalty to Int, Wis, and Cha.

I know I turn into 'hulk-smash' when I don't smoke for a couple hours :D

heh. In an island campaigbn, I actually have a beachbum druid with dreadlocks and a penchant to smoke a special "sea" weed that he cultivates.

Ah, how liberal you are with the sacred rules. Since when are cigarettes and a tindertwig considered one item? ;)

For the repulsion effect smoking generates?
Considering that DnD models mideval times when most folks bathed once a year whether they needed it or not, I'd say the smell would be most welcome.

Since anyone who smokes will keep them together in the same pocket for convienience.

If they don't, then it's an extra move action to pad down their pockets and say, "Now where did I..." to remember where they put their matches. :)

Um, I said two moves action to retrieve the tindertwig and cigarette...that's one each...maybe I missed something...

Why fort save? I'd think it should be a will save...

I was going off of the basis that nicotine was a poison, so Fort just seemed more relevant.
