Sorgram raises an eyebrow as Rinaldo comes in, announcing that everyone knows him. Sounds like he's someone I should get to know anyhow he thinks to himself. Nervously he heads over to the table.

"I'm Sorgram" he says to Rinaldo. "So you're what? Some sort of trader?"

[SBLOCK=OOC]Edit my post above.[/SBLOCK]

Rinaldo turns his attention to Sorgram. "Not some sort, I am a trader, and I do in the most lucrative trade of magicals items and spell compenent. For now, I must tell most of the items I sell in my shop here in Orussus are more for use to the spellcasters. Scrolls and spell componenet, but with time, I want to extend it to all kind of magical items, from potions, to weapons and all kind of trinkets that can be enchanted, like gauntlets, cloaks, rods and rings."

(Do we arcane types get to make a Knowledge (arcana) check or something about that nexus?;))

"Welcome back, Ashnar, how's things back at the tower? Apprentice, not Laynie here, but Salvador is looking to study magic like his, aunt was it Rinaldo?" replies Tenebrynn.
"Everything should run smoothly even while we aren't there. I don't think I missed any of the preparations we talked about, but we can go through that later."

Rinaldo said:
"Ashnar! How are you? I must thank you for the gift. I will be happy to help you to make yourself a name as a spell researcher. I'll make sure not to sell it to the first merchant who will only want do more profit. You scrolls will have the low price I offer to everyone when I found a deal. I am quite sure the will be sold soon."
"Do not mention it, Rinaldo. I just want to do my part in aiding your shop."

"Greetings Sorgram, I'm Vanitri. Welcome to the Inn. Indeed, work may find you here someday, but untill then, relax and share a tale or two."

Vanitri frowns and blanches at the same time. "Twenty-thousand? The merchant who purchased it from me paid me two." He shakes his head, "Though it could be a rather large burdon for him. Likely more than he things having something so valuable. There was a rather determined wizard looking for it last I knew, and she's certaintly not afraid to kill to get what she wants."

(OOC: Sure KO2 :) Hope someone beats DC 30 check and reads the longer one ;))

[SBLOCK=Knowledge Arcana, DC 20]*Spell nexuses are powerful arcane aids typically used by Medibarian wizards to enhance their spells.*

[SBLOCK=Knowledge Arcan, DC 30]*As written by Thibauld the All-Knowing (a self-proclaimed title), in his work Magic, Metamagic, and the History of the World. the Medibarian spell nexuses are magical items of an ancient tradition that extends even until today. Powerful tools in shaping and enhancing the effects of spells, spell nexuses never became popular among many wizards outside Medibaria, but when an Omega wizard by the name of Bryll, for the culmination of his thesis project, created the simpler and more straightforward versions (he called them 'streamlined', though others called them 'dumbed-down for the idiots') called by the colloquial term 'metamagic rods', they caught on like wildfire. One would expect a traditional Medibarian spell nexus to be quirkier than a metamagic rod, but no less powerful in modifying and amplifying the dweomers within.[/SBLOCK][/SBLOCK]

(Agh, so close! Knowledge (arcana) (1d20+11=29))
"Spell nexuses are powerful arcane aids typically used by Medibarian wizards to enhance their spells, if I recall that correctly. I suppose it would work similar to Frump's throne, which interweaved with his illusion spells to make them last longer. The one topical to our discussion is portable, obviously, making it more potentially more powerful, though that depends on parameters not known to me."

(OOC: I'll have Laynie Aid Another. She automatically succeeds and you get a 31, so peek in the other box ;))

"Oh, have you ever read Magic, Metamagic, and the History of the World, Mr. Ashnar?" Laynie asks, "There's stuff on nexuses in there too."

"Actually, yes, I think I read it during my stay in Monemvassia - of course! The basis for Bryll's metamagic rods, how could I forget? A metamagic rod has a single specific effect on a spell, such as improving its duration. Its ability to interweave with a spell is limited, though, it might not find anchor on spells of higher potencies, and it can only interweave a limited number of times before it needs to tap into the leylines to recharge. A spell nexus is more complex, and maybe somewhat quirky, but certainly no less powerful. An ancient tradition, but it extends to this day."
