Of course friend. I am Daeualas, please call me Dae. I am a cleric by trade and am quite handy with a bow. I believe I spoke with a rather large half-orc before you arrived. If I am not mistaken he has a room here. He seems decent enough, a burly lad that looks to be able to absorb more than his share of blows. Perhaps he would be interested in taking party with us.

Dae smiles at his new small friend.

Joru; Knowledge checks:

On Fallon: [sblock=Bardic Knowledge DC 10]Fallon, also known as the city of falls, is home to one of the largest existing colleges of wizardy, and has long been one of the foremost places for wizards and sorcerers alike to train and research in the arcane arts.

The centre of the city is built in a sunken part of the land, like a large, very deep pit. This contains the older parts of Fallon, and as it has grown over the years, buildings have been carved out of the sides and the city has started to spill out onto the flatter land above.

Fallon is a largely human city, though it is accepting of other humanoid races. Gnomes, and dwarves are not a rare sight in the city, the city appealing to them, and other races, elves, halflings, orcs and even kobolds can be seen in parts of town.

Travel through the city is largely by foot but there is a network of clear water canals which are often used, particularly for transporting goods to the warehouses.
[/sblock][sblock=Bardic Knowledge DC 15]The city is lit at night largely by continual light spells. These and other magical wards in the city are carefully maintained by the college of wizardry.

As well as a centre for scholarly pursuits, Fallon today serves as a centre of industry. The market trades often in fish from the nearby Kithsui Lake, and in metals and minerals mined from the Stonespike Mountains. Produce bought in Fallon is often bound for Orussus and from the docks there Fallon goods can make their way around the world.

The city is controlled through two different parties, the church and the School of Wizardry. Together they meet in the Great Council of Wisdom and Intellect under the supervision of the Grand Councillor.
[/sblock][sblock=Knowledge (History) DC 15]Over 100 years ago, the astrologer Bentilous Forlune, went to the college of wizardry with grave news. He claimed that from the skies an asteroid would fall, burning through the skies, and it was destined tostrike Fallon.

While the wizards were initially sceptical of Bentilous’ predictions, their divinations suggested that Bentilous was accurate. With the aid of the church, they worked night and day to provide magical and divine defences to protect from the asteroid.

With little time to spare, the church and wizards constructed a magical barrier of force, a powerful abjuration to prevent the destruction of the city. The meteor struck home, and the barrier held.

All was not well, however, as the force of the meteor could not be controlled. The impact pushed the barrier, and with it the city, deep into the ground, pushing the entire city into a deep pit. Water from the lake began seeping through the from the lake, and arcane and divine magics were called on once more to save the city from this new threat.

Their magic held, and the city of Fallon was saved. To this day the city is protected by magics which keep it from being lost under the waters of the Kithsui Lake.[/sblock][sblock=Knowledge (History) DC 20]The wizards and the church both claimed responsibility for saving the city, a clash between the groups unresolved to this day. Both were needed to maintain the city’s now fragile position, however, and between them formed a body to control and maintain this magic, the Great Council of Wisdom and Intellect was formed.

They took control of all aspects of safety and the day to day running the city, ensuring nothing could jeapordise their magics. The division between the two factions has been known to cause instability, the city’s precariousness often being the factor that pulls them together once more.[/sblock]
On banditry[sblock=Bardic Knowledge]Bandits on the roads are a rarity but by no means unheard of. You've not heard of anything recently around Fallon.[/sblock]

jkason/Eanos[sblock=OOC]If you want to bring Eanos on the adventure then it's not a problem, I can accomodate a 4th level character. It might not be the most rewarding adventure for a 4th level character though. I'll leave it to you.[/sblock]

Iamthetest/Dae[sblock=OOC]I'm assuming that the half-orc you're referring to is Sorgram. Since he's my character he won't be going on this adventure.[/sblock]

Dae gets the feeling that the half orc will not be venturing out with this group.

My friend, hopefully we can gain some amount of assistance before leaving. In any case I think that before we depart we should make sure we are adequatley stocked up on mundane supplies. Better to be careful and all.

[sblock=OOC]oops. Im still getting used to linking handles to PC names. Its going to take some time methinks. I just didnt want a fellow L1 PC to miss this opprotunity.[/sblock]

[sblock=wmasters]Eanos' previous adventures have all been slightly above his actual level, so I think I might welcome an adventure that's not quite so worrisome. :)[/sblock]

Eanos stands, shaking his head. "I'm a fool," he says. "Ayratha rewards those who test their mettle, not those who sit and ponder it. If you have need of me, I'll join you."

Quarion Holimion, Elven Druid 3

Quarion looks strangely at Joru the gnome as he rattles off words in the elegant elven tongue. "Lle quenlammen en'eldalie?" he asks the gnome. "Manke umistim ta?" He pauses for an answer, then announces, "A trek through the wilderness to see the fury of nature harnessed by man would be well worth it. I believe... I believe I shall take this quest and go to Fallon." He pauses a moment and then looks to Joru. "Vithel, irmamin en'natulmellon, nogothelle."

[sblock=Elven Translation: ]You speak elven?
"Lle quenlammen en'eldalie?"

Where did you learn it?
"Manke umistim ta?"

Also, I hope to know you better, little gnome.
"Vithel, irmamin en'natulmellon, nogothelle."[/sblock]

Joru ghe Bana - Gnome Bard 1

Turning to Quarion Joru says:
[sblock=Elven]
Good sir, I have had the pleasure to associate with many forest creatures; including, on occasion, some few elves. I too hope to get to know you better.

"Long life makes many friends"

I would feel honored to share this journey with two elves. I think our group will include more than elves however, so we may not be free to speak much elvish.
[/sblock]

Changing to Common, Joru then addresses Eanos. I have always felt it best to travel with friends, especially if there are many of them.

Then speaking to the assembled group, Joru answers Dae's question.

I would like to buy some supplies here in Orussus before we start out. I do not know how you wish to travel, but I imagine that my short legs will have trouble keeping up with the rest of you regardless.

Alden - Human Paragon 1

The door of the inn swings open to announce a new arrival. A young swordsman walks in and makes his way to the bar. His dark hair covers half his face, obscuring old burn scars. He looks over the bar for a moment, pausing at the posted sign. One eyebrow raises slightly at the request, but he shrugs to himself and speaks up.

"My name is Alden Eckhart."

He then peruses the postings board finding the latest entry.

"Are more sought for this adventure?"

The adventurers band together and prepare for the journey. In the morning they embark for Fallon to find out more about the Stolen Goods.

OOC: hafrogman, Alden is more than welcome to join if you would like to join us for this one as well.

Quarion Holimion, Elven Druid

Quarion stands up, his wine finished, and bids the patrons of the tavern adieu. "Fare you all well. May Verdante bring you and yours green fields for many seasons." With a slight bow, he exits with the grace only an elf of the forest can achieve.

Rasereit Vundinn, Dwarven Barbarian

A few hours later, a dwarf stumbles in. His most obvious feature is his red hair and beard, all braided. He appears to be exceptionally well equipped, with two finely crafted axes at his hips and very shiny breastplate armor. Despite his equipment, he has bruises on his large, muscled arms and a bad black eye. He announces on his entrance, "Oi! Me name's Rasereit, last o' the Vundinn clan, an' if ye think Ah look bad, ye should see the other seven blokes, ha harr! Joe mate, Ah'm thinkin' Ah need a good dark brew, ye know the stuff." Razh throws Joe a wink.

The boisterous dwarf looks around the tavern for a moment before he spots the halfling seated in the corner. "Ogrin, mate, Ah feared we'd ne'er meet again, but 'ere we are! Lemmeh get ye a drink." With a wave of his thick hand, Razh beckons a serving woman over to deliver his and Ogrin's drinks. Razh details his last few nights of drunken debauchery in gruesome detail to Ogrin over the beers. Several times the dwarf's drink almost goes flying, but Ogrin saves it every time. At the end of the account, Razh states, "But it's good t'be 'ere an' 'ave a rest every now an' then, eh?" His first beer finished, Razh calls for another. The night is young.
