"Will you join us, Valdaris?" asks Taelythenihel. "Vaeri kothar! While we were outside, four of our company were recruited, Eleria one of them, I see. Well, perhaps that is for the best. She and I got off to a poor start, I am afraid."

“Huh? Uh, yeah.” Valdaris replies, still looking somewhat confused at the recent turn of events. Though, Taelythenihel’s offer is by far the best for now, so he grabs his beer and joins her. When he reaches her, he places the tankard on the table and slumps down into a chair opposite. He then picks up the tankard and gives a barely-commital ‘cheers’, before taking a much-needed drink of the amber liquid.

“Eleria?” The elven woman’s mention of the name does nothing for his confusion, as Valdaris had been outside during the whole time that Eleria was in the tavern. He gestures towards the entrance with his thumb as he asks another question.

“What do you s'pose that was all about then?”

"Hmmmm..." Saithnar sits watching the chaos with a smile upon his lips. He would not have wished to work for such an arrogant blowhard as that Lucias Darque in any case. This second offer of employment sounded more tempting. However, something in the back of his mind told him to stay his restless hand and wait. Wait a bit longer...for something was coming. Something important which he was destined to be a part of. With that thought reassuring him, he went back to watching the faces and thoughts of those many who were left within the Inn...and hoping that the something would arrive soon.

Richard, having barely gotten through his bath before all the ruckus started downstairs, pokes his head out upstairs and looks around the now much less crowded tavern.
Seeing his friends sitting still at the bar he shrugs his shoulders and retires for the evening.

"An elven bard of no small talent who has just departed. She seemed offended when I suggested her skills would be shown to better effect were she to sing in her native tongue."
“What do you s'pose that was all about then?”
"I would suggest some idle youth who had heard of the reputation of this tavern as a haunt of adventurers got it into his head to play a practical joke. If he had run less quickly, he might have continued it for longer."

“Now that I’ve weeded out the impetuous, the gullible and the do-gooders, I will be hiring four guards for the caravan. I want people who are level-headed and professional. As this is a well-travelled route, and the risk is minimal, the pay will be at the standard rate. It is, however, just the first run of a new venture, and if you do your job well, there’ll be plenty more work in the future.”

Lokin was slow to catch up with Payne and Kol, just finishing the gathering of his packs, strapping his shield onto his arm, and hanging his scabbard onto his swordbelt when truth of the scheme was revealed. He grins and heads to the door, regardless. Lokin stops to speak to Alvar.

"I admire your trick, Master Thorne. My companions, I doubt, will have such a good sense of humor. My friend Kol has a bad temper and, unfortunately for your employee, incredible footspeed. As for my other companion, Payne. She will take offense to being duped but she'll be truly furious for being characterized as gullible or a do-gooder. I recommend you finish your recruitment before they return."

Lokin exits the inn, moving as fast as his heavy armor will carry him.

"Are you recruiting, Thorne?" asks Taelythenihel. "And I gather you are responsible for the recent... diversion. Somewhat ill-advised, as Lokin has warned you. It seems to me that, if Valdaris and I had not returned, you would have had to choose only from the drunk, the slothful or the indifferent. Tell us of your offer. Perhaps we will overlook your games, and still consider providing our considerable talents."

Valdaris is unmoved at the mention of the bard. They generally had little use in his line of work, so missing her was no great loss.

“Well, perhaps your paths will cross at some later date… Though bards are a strange breed. They seem to value much that is unimportant to the rest of us! As for the youth, though, I hope for his sake that he can keep up the pace. I would not want to be in his shoes when that angry barbarian catches up with him!”

As he utters his last sentence, he watches the armored man [Lokin] leave the inn and listens as the elven woman speaks with Alvar Thorne. He, too, waits for Thorne’s response.

Xir follows the imperious man stately out of the bar, unconcerned with the recent rucus.

[sblock=OOC] I'm going to go check the list of who's available here in the RDI to see if there is even a possible cleric to wait for. I like the four characters presented so far, but a lack of healing could be troublesome.[/sblock]
[sblock=OOC]There be only 1 first level cleric in the Inn.[/sblock]

-What a lost of my time- Ciprinus enters the tavern -Hello there- he hails the two new persons at the inn, unknowing what is happening, he gets near Taelythenihel and whisper to her ear "Hey, who is that guy?" addressing Thorne
