This curious fact is not specifically 4E, it has existed in all editions.
It is well known that gargoyles have the ability to remain so still that they appear to be statues, and the 3.5 rules required a Spot roll to notice that they were in fact not statues. (I note with relief that 4E does not so state). Presumably, hapless people who failed this check would blithely wander too close and get chomped.
Did NO city or town ever think to post the following?
"BY ORDER of his Grace, the Duke of Noggton, no one shall carve or place a statue resembling a gargoyle."
Clearly Humans should have a -2 penalty to INT.
