Man those few pics look awesome. And I agree with the Hex Map :D

I so hope they'll release it on consoles too. I can't afford to get a pc that will run it... Though apparently it will be exclusive to pc :(

Well.. if they release something like it on the consoles it would most likely be a "dumbed down" version of it like they usually do.

Hey, Revolutions is darn fun. I agree it's nowhere near as complex as Civ 4, but it's fun. There are times I pick up my DS just to play Revolutions, even though my PC is closer.

Looking at image three, the farms still have square fields. My guess is that is just the graphics used, because fields tend to be square in the real world. Still, it made my head spin for a second at the potential complexity of having hexes for tactical (battle) play and square for strategic (cities, improvements, etc.) play.

It's fun, but it's also too limited in strategy. Diplomacy should be a viable route, but it's completely closed off because all nations are hostile towards the player while neutral towards each other. It's bad design that a player's discouraged from discovering other nations because doing so just means you'll be at war with yet another nation once you stop caving in to neverending demands for your best tech or great people. And that's even if they're in the stone age and you have nukes.

One thing that's interesting to do in Civ Rev is to build the Great Wall wonder, as it's almost the only time you'll see other nations declaring war on each other. Even when one nation is about to win the game, the other natiosn won't lift a finger.

Having said that, I had fun playing it, to the point where I earned 1000/1000 Xbox achievemnt points. Just had to reconcile myself that it is in fact "dumbed-down" so that the masses won't get bored with concepts like paying upkeep for anything or ever having to endure the boredom of peace.
