Clarification on the use of Barkskin

Does the spell have any visual effect on the skin?
The spell description only says that the skin gets tough as bark.

So I would say no it has no visual effect, but if you touch the skin you can feel it.

How do you rule Barkskin?

I don't have do any visual efffect, although if you touch the person's skin you will be able to feel it.
