Class Combos

Well, Fighter 6/Deep Woods Sniper 7/Order of the Bow Initiate 7 stack very nicely. You get to kick ass at both long and short ranges. Especially if you take improved crit, you can get some rather nice crits, especially with a bow that has an elemental burst enchantment (at a x5 crit multiple you'd be adding +4d10).

Another intriguing archery combo would be Fighter 4/Ranger 3/DWS 7/Windrider 6. One of the quirks of the mounted combat rules is that since you are not moving (your steed is) you can "take a full move" and still get in a full attack action with ranged weapons. Windrider also has a very useful spell list for buffing your self and your mount, not to mention the enhancements to your mount you get just from general class bonuses. Combine all this with a good flying mount like say a Griffon and you can just circle the battlefield doing an impression of a AC-130 Spectre gunship.

Please don't tempt newbies with b0rken PrCs. The windrider is conclusively a b0rken class, as shown in this thread:

Go to page 3 and scroll down a bit.

Note, you can't keen a keened weapon.

I've always been amused with the Barbarian/Cleric. A single level in barbarian, and add extra strenght. The Raging Deciple. Especially good with a halfling.

This is a character I've just recently created in preparation for replacing one of my current PC's (our group is just beginning RttToEE ;)). He began life as a warrior for a nomadic clan of halflings, with two levels of barbarian. Among his people, his strength was almost legendary (16). Then he traveled a bit and found Kord, immediately becoming a disciple of the deity. Now he's Barbarian 2/Cleric 3 -- a very amusing character on paper.

Ah, I must confess, that I had never really run the numbers on the Windrider, nor contemplated the full range of possibilities for abusive mounts. I find that analysis of the class particularly amusing since my previous GM absolutely refused to permit any version of the Deep Woods Sniper in the campaign (which nobody else seems to think is broken), but was going to permit a slightly nerfed Windrider (no spells, D8 hp).

I'm not totally convinced the class is broken, since a lot of that stuff is going to require a GM who will let you get away with anything and if that's the case then, likely everything else is going to be broken anyway. Also there is the more basic problem that adventures spend a lot of their time in places where, mounts are just simply not going to be able to go (particularly elephants) and the requirements for the class are pretty tough to meet.

So, run with it. What kinda cool class combos can you think of?

I have always liked the 2nd level Fighter/4th level Cleric/xth level Warpriest character... just seems like a very dwarvish thing to do.

The 1st level Wizard/5th level fighter/xth level Bladesinger is fun also.

Without alignment and multiclass restrictions, I'd make a Paladin/Bard.

Kind of a jovial character. Sings hymns as he goes into battle, hymns which incidentally happen buff him and his allies. He'd tell amusing but allegorical tales to children and in taverns (instruction without high-handedness). Charming and generous until you prove to be evil. Then it's battle hymn and holy longsword time. Lots of Diplomacy and Sense motive, along with Perform: Hymn and Perform: Storytelling. I think that would be great fun.

A Barbarian/Paladin would be cool, too. He goes into Holy Rages at the sight of injustice, laying the divine smack on the perpetrator with extreme prejudice.

btw- I know it's been said before, but the requirement that Barbarians be non-lawful just doesn't make sense.

Sorry. Just had to say it.

Heh...

but right now that is the only thing stopping one of my players (he has a halfling 3rd thief/2nd Ftr./1st ranger/2nd shadowdancer) from also taking a level of barbarian (for the rage and movement)...

!!!!

OK. Maybe some contextual rulings are called for... :D

Rangers get the same kind of bard benefit, by the books - a ranger with a BAB of +9 gets improved two-weapon fighting. So a ranger 1/fighter 8 gets improved two-weapon fighting. ;)

I like 2 levels of barbarian, mixed with ranger, fighter, or druid - class skills are fairly similar. You get 2d12 hp. You get +3 fort. You get +2 BAB. You get rage. You get 10' movement. You get uncanny defense (which is amazing). And you can say "Grak smash!" whenever you want.

4 levels of fighter go well with anyone that wants to fighter. Weapon specialization is your friend.

Ranger/Rogues do mix very well - sneak damage + flanking + 2 weapons means you can be doing double sneak damage each round.

And Paladin 1/Bard x or Sorc x - Paladins add cha bonus to saves. Bards and Sorcs need Cha. So.... d10, lay on hands, divine health, detect evil... All good things. It's munch, but handy.

And why would you want to take duelist for a paladin 2 weapon fighter? Duelists can't have armor to use their skills, and precise strike only works when you use a single weapon....
