As I had stated previously, go ahead and take max hitpoints for first level. In the case of said ftr/mu, that would be... shoot, I don't remember what bonus (if any) a 13 con gives, so assuming +1 he would have (10+1+4+1)/2 = 8.

I have to assume a male elf do to his strength (Females have a max strength of 16, I believe)

Great. Yeah he is a guy. name: Lexandar. Chaotic good. All brains and brawn NO common sence.
 

Unfortunately, bonuses are a lot harder to get before 3rd edition mith. You need a 15 con to get a hp bonus. Just like my ranger would need a 16 strength to get a bonus to damage, much less to hit.
