Classic DND Module Series for 4e

Just to clarify...

Revenge of the Giants is not the Against the Giants series updated to 4E. It's a completely original 4E adventure that was inspired by the AtG series.

Thanks for the clarification.

Although I could see room for both in my - imaginary - classic series :D

There are tonnes of great mod's that I never got to run. I could always try run them in 1e as Mr Gygax intended, but I'd have a hard time prying my players away from their Character Builders.

There are a few newer 2e mods and even some classic 3e ones - Sunless Citadel I'm looking at you - that I would consider. Or the Gates of Firestorm keep from 2e.

Count me in for 4E conversions of classic D&D modules.

The Keep on the Borderlands
In Search of the Unknown
Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan
Ghost Tower of Inverness
White Plume Mountain
Expedition to the Barrier Peaks
Temple of Elemental Evil

I'd be all over this, and I'd like to see some of the unsung classics re-done (as T1 was)

My List:

Anything Moldvay- Isle of Dread, Castle Amber, and especially The Lost City

A series- (the stand alones, not the supermodule)

Saltmarsh (at least the Sinister Secret- the other two are welcome but uneccessary, IMO)

Tamoachan

Barrier Peaks

Ghost Tower of Inverness

Dwellers (though I never owned this-it sounds like I should)

Bone Hill

I like the idea of old adventrues converted to the new game and new modules that are inspired by the old ones. I hope they don't over do but a few here and there would be a great addition to the game.

To answer your question, yes, I'd like to see products like these, even if they are "inspired by" adventures in the style of Revenge of the Giants.

And in some ways, I prefer the "inspired by" versions as they don't feel the need to adhere to any specific timeline or setting canon.

I found H1 Keep on the Shadowfell very easy to convert to Keep on the Borderlands.

I also put Quasqueton (from In Search of the Unknown) in the Nentir Vale, and the Caves of Chaos fit in there very well also.

While I'm running In Search of the Unknown in it's HackMaster variant (Quest for the Unknown), the original was pretty much "fill in the blanks" as far as monsters and treasure went... so it could make for a potentially easy conversion to any other game system.

I do as well, as both a writer and a gamer. I'd much rather see people come up with new stuff based on and making use of the old, than just doing a simple rehash of the old.

Heck, the new stuff can even include directly lifted portions of the old, as long as that's not all it is. :)

(One of the best examples of this, IMO, was Return to the Tomb of Horrors, back in 2E.)

No reason they couldn't do a conversion with a follow-up, original adventure.

I would pay money for a 4e Desert of Desolation. Preferably a boxed set with maps. And a follow-up new adventure.
