Classic Dungeons: all of them to exist in the new edition

I really wish they would leave classics as classics. How about moving ahead and making some new adventures that will become classics in the future? It is like making a remake of the same movie over and over again. It just becomes boring and stale.

To me this just shows a lack of imagination.

All this is my opinion of course.

Not on my watch. Barrier Peaks is a wonderful adventure, but to me it isn’t a D&D adventure. Once you add ray guns and power armor to the game, you have a fundamentally different experience. Now, presenting it as a d20 Modern adventure? I can see that happening at some point.

I'm with Bill on this one. Power armor and lasers kill D&D for me.

Of course, Spell Jammer and Planescape never really struck me as "D&D", either. Planescape would have made an interesting game in its own right, I suppose. Spell Jammer, on the other hand... well, I just haven't heard anything about it that sounds redeemable.

If Expedition to Castle Ravenloft or the Igwilvs (sic) Legacy/Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth just being released on Dungeon are any guide, they will be a mix of old and new. And, again based just on those, probably pretty good.

But we won't know until we see them.

I think the 4E re-imaginings of the classics would be mostly new. They would not be the same old adventures with 4E stat blocks. They will be complete overhauls, I suspect.
I agree. They have this seemingly uncontrollable desire to arbitrarily add PC plotlines to them. That's not roleplaying.

Umm, Mindflayer pirates on squid shaped sailing vessels in space... what's not redeemable about that? ;)

Dude, you ever try to take a mindflayer to the customer service desk, and try to redeem him for valuable gifts and prizes? He just eats the brain of the poor customer service drone behind the desk, and you don't get any valuable gifts or prizes.

So, I'd have to say - completely irredeemable.

I was successful when I did it. Namely because the mindflayer didn't want to sully his palate with the empty brain of a customer service worker at a chain big box store. That's like eating a fast food employee - the brain's been leeched bland by the soulless work.

?
Please explain... I don't have any of the 'Expedition to___' if that's what you are referring to. And if it is, what did they do?

And FWIW, if the classics aren't brought back to life in 4E, then they won't be classics much longer. As people my age and older leave the game, so will the memories of those classics... unless new players are given the opportunity to experience them in 4E.
