What's the overall plot for the campaign?
The "let's go and beat up the demon queen with fewer hit points than those she supposedly commands but, heck, this is 1E so crap like this is to be expected and, anyway, Q1 was only published in the form it was because EGG [great bloke that he is] missed yet another deadline by a few years"-finale of the original series didn't make a whole lot of sense in that it was the worshippers of the Elder Elemental Eye who were really causing all the problems.
With that in mind, I would suggest providing a more logical conclusion to the campaign based on what the underlying plot it. Even if Lolth is the inspiration behind it all, I would suggest simply taking out some Epic-level clerics, such as Eclavdra as mentioned, would be not only more appropriate but also would set that silly precedent that bred a generation of munchkins 20 years ago (as in, "we slew a lesser deity"-type munchkins).
However, if you still insist on the Q1 ending I would strongly recommend two things:
1. Use the D&DG version of Lolth after making some changes using the Epic rules. Yes, make her tougher... and make sure you kill the whole party so that they never try this again.
More seriously, make it so that she can only be slain by a specific artefact, such as a sword crafted by Corellon that requires a quest to another plane (even another plane of the Abyss) to recover.
2. Ditch the spider ship and all the other "funny" things such as that marilith secretary.
